Sundaram sir looks stunning..
even I tested with the same props bought from rcdhamaka..
But the stock one looks good for me for that motor..
Anyway how it flies?

Thanks Arun, Satya. Its great. flew for few minutes only at a time. After I change the props I am sure it will fly great. Will be making another one 60% the current size.

What I am loving here is the FlySky FS-T6 2.4ghz Digital Proportional 6 Channel Transmitter * New model* Programing features are real Easy. Starts with the menu similar to Turnigy 9X but later pages are very similar to Futaba type of menu.

Dear satya,

Still my quad flip as soon as it takes off from ground any suggestions to resolve this flips. Is there any problem with trims or with gyro settings of the controller.

satyagupta

Should ask arun he has fixed his flip issue.. @arun any inputs??

One more suggestion, when you plug in the lipo to the controller make sure that its placed on the ground. When you plug in the battery it configures the gyros.

Try this, plugin lipo
Keep it on flat surface,
wait for flashing led

And then bind and try.

@satya: you pointed out the main thing.. keep the fc parallel while arming and binding..
If every connections are done correctly as well as all motors are at 90degree then it will fly.. and trimming may be needed to make it stable.. try it and update here..;D;D

Hi Satya,
Received my first DIY quad yesterday evening. Thanks much.
Assembled it yesterday night, Here are the steps I followed as per the instructions in this thread.

1. Built the quad as per instructions.
- Motor to motor distance 110mm
- Total weight 30gms
2. Charged the battery fully.(Red light on the USB charger goes off, so I assume battery is fully charged)
3. Connected the battery to FS.
4. Successfully binded the receiver to transmitter FS TH9x as per the steps mentioned by you.

After this when I switch ON the Tx, all the motors motors start to run with out any giving throttle.
When I try to give throttle, It moves a little bit on the ground & flips off to left.
Help me with your suggestion for successful flight.

Thanks,
Sudhakar.

if the battery connection is reversed all motors will run continuously without even linking.

However after linking for a brief moment all motors runs. However if it runs continuously. Try to trim down the throttle. if its still running I am missing something here.

sudhakar_yg

Thank you Sundaram. Battery connection is fine & polarities are correct.
Till I bind my Tx to receiver, Motor doesn't run. Only after the binding I see all motors starts running continuously without any throttle from Tx. I try to minimize the throttle, there is only slight difference in the motor rotation.

My question, Is my Tx (FS-TH9X) causing  this problem?
Is battery charging proper? How long do I need to charge a new battery?
Do I need to do any setting changes or reflashing of Tx to run a quad?
Please bare with my fundamental questions as I am new to quad.

Thank you all for support!!

VC

Is there something wrong with your prop orientation or am I confused? I thought the props diagonal to each other should have the same orientation..................

As far as the motors running without any throttle input, I have the same problem - I can't bring them down to zero rev at zero throttle and trim all the way down. However, do the revs increase when you increase throttle?
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional!

satyagupta

Nopes you dont, check the trims. Specially the trim for throttle, when receiver is binded with TX it is getting some throttle input which is why you can see spinning motors.

EDIT: yes diagonal props should rotate in same direction as pointed by VC sir.

My Mistake, I have made the changes in the props with diagonal props to rotate in same direction.
Yes, Revs increase if I increase the throttle.
Chopped off the extra foam in the middle & reduced some more weight.
Tried interchanging the props, but still same condition. Quad doesn't lift off from ground.

Bilal

Sudhakar Sir,
in the first pic that you have posted, I can clearly see that the prop orientation is not right.... Just interchange the position on black props and check whether each of the four props are pushing air downwards by connecting one motor at a time

Lipo fully charged? are you charging using USB or WALL ADAPTER?

@Bilal, I have interchanged the props. Will try out the individual motor test method mentioned by you.

@Satya, I am right now using USB to charge the battery. Each time I connect the battery, with in few minutes I see the red light on the USB cable goes off. I assume this shows the battery is fully charged.

arun.sreelakam

For me it takes almost an hour to charge a 350mah using the provided USB cable

Right keep it till 1 hour atleast, that red led is not very reliable. If you plug in the lipo after its charged still it will glow.

Thanks Arun / Satya, Will try it out & let you know the feedback.

Hi Satya,

got the kit today afternoon.. very impressive one day delivery from the first flight guys..
:)

I have assembled the quad as per instructions.. but it has problem of the motors start running when I switch on the Tx after binding.. there is not lift at all and the quad does not respond to Tx controls..

please provide the info on the following please...

there is no instruction on wiring of the motors. all the black wires (-) will be connected to the black wires of the connectors .. is it so..?

I have put the paired props (orange pair of CW and CCW props) in the front i.e. motor 1&2. please let me know if it has to go this way..

thanks

satyagupta

Its DIY kit so you have read this whole thread to find the info. I have updated the first post so you can check that.

2 motors diagonally should be connected in normal way (black to black and white to red) and other 2 should be reversed.

mini quad weight should be less than 32 grams for a lift off. Please charge the LIPO atleast one hour prior to use.

@Arun / Satya, Charged the battery for an hour from USB.

@ Bilal, Tried the motor testing method you mentioned & fixed the props accordingly. Now I see the quad lifts off the ground & flies a bit, but not too far or high.

@MKS, Please refer this page from the top, Me too had similar problem but fixed it with Arun, Satya & Bilal's feedback.
BTW facing the same issue of motors start running soon as I switch on the Tx after binding. I get very little control over throttle. Satya should be able to tell us the exact reason for this behaviour.

arun.sreelakam

If it is lifting then all the settings are correct.. it is not lifting up is because any one of the motor is not mounted in 90degree angle.. please check that properly..
It will fly good... for sure..

Thanks Arun, Will realign the motors & try it out.

But any idea as to why the motors start running soon as I switch on the Tx after binding.

Bilal

Sudhakar Sir,
the motor rotate for a second after switching on the Tx to conferm binding and then stop........ If the motors in your quad isn' stopping then you probably have your throttle trim offset.... Set it to zero ie. At the lowest point, or you have some programming issues with the throttle curve setting..... Try to look into it

Sudhakar you are speaking about slow rotation of anyone of motor soon after connecting the battery right.. that is because of some short in the circuit board..
you soldered directly to the board I guess..:-X
Micro soldering needs perfection check for some short.. check whether the motor which is spinning continuously is speeding up while increasing the throttle...
It won't I guess again..;D
