Haha, thanks bros :)
Dharmik sir, Actually I decreased the size to 700mm length. This was dont because I didn't want to add extra weight for no reason. I will also add gimbal.
Aniket, need kk2? I know a person who sells it.

Title: Re: Build log - FPV hexacopter (space booked)
Post by: aniket210696 on April 03, 2013, 09:58:40 AM
but why roll? wouldnt it be better to make it swivel???
Title: Re: Build log - FPV hexacopter (space booked)
Post by: Rahulvyas on April 03, 2013, 09:59:36 AM
swivel? didn't get it? any reference image for that movement?
Title: Re: Build log - FPV hexacopter (space booked)
Post by: Rahulvyas on April 03, 2013, 10:00:38 AM
Oh I got it, swivel is not required, as the hex could easily roll which would change the cams direction.
And also kk2 dosn't support 3 axis gimbal.

waow.... its a DHAKAN - copter.... xD why dont you make a badass looking cover out of depron or thermocol??? or paper....
Title: Re: Build log - FPV hexacopter (space booked)
Post by: Rahulvyas on April 28, 2013, 08:24:50 AM
just wait ;) I will paint it camouflage.
Actually This tiffin box is easier to fit and use compared to depron. This can be taken off at anytime.

Post by: aniket210696 on April 29, 2013, 09:08:10 AM
heres an idea... use the rim of the Dhakkan, as a base to build a canopy on it.... so it will fit also, and people will piss their pants when they see it coming.... ;) ;D

Hey, what paint should I use?
and what color will look good camouflage or plain bright yellow?

and is that paint permanent?
Title: Re: Build log - FPV hexacopter (space booked)
Post by: aniket210696 on April 30, 2013, 08:00:44 PM
here's an option... u can either invest in some good enamel paint, for a matte/lustrous finish, or use acrylic....
an alternative to enamel paint is nailpolish....! ;D but best of luck finding that in camo colors... xD

for digicamo, u  can use greyish green and grey, or greyish blue and blue....

here are the exact colors...

FOREST:-

#868781
#6a6c61
#aaa7a2

DESERT

#9d836a
#8b6e50
#c7bbaf

just load those colors into Photoshop or another image editor for exact tones.....

enjoy ;D

Just my two penny bit - Wouldn't you rather mount the ESC's out on the arms so that the passing air can keep them cool? You are enclosing them inside the box and they may get excessively warm - especially since there are 6 of them..........

Title: Re: Build log - FPV hexacopter (space booked)
Post by: Rahulvyas on May 01, 2013, 10:51:58 AM
well. thats true but it wont get too hot. the battery will be placed at the bottom.
and about the canopy, it would be well ventilated.
My motors take only 15A max and the ESCs are 25A. so no chance on burning them hot.
Also, I plan to keep it safe, the circuit and the ESCs safe because I have seen bad crash videos.
so everything must be clean and safe.

I will soon upgrade to mid end motors from rctimer and 4S for better stability.

Still waiting for my stuff to arrive from the customs. :(

Thanks.

For undercarriage, just use some cycle spokes.. Bend them to whatever you need.. They're the best

okay.
Unfortunately one motor is super hot than others and its making crack sounds when I increase the throttle, is it normal or the motor is bad?

Bearings shot, I guess.. Can you elaborate a bit more on the problem?
Title: Re: Build log - FPV hexacopter (space booked)
Post by: Rahulvyas on May 04, 2013, 05:23:42 PM
I check and tested placing the motor on another ESC and it works on that.
So ESC in damaged.

I even saw and smelled some smoke before maiden and this problem so most probably thats the issue.

Can it be repaired?

Update-Ordered another ESC from hobbysea.

Do let me know if ESC can be repaired or if anyone wants to buy that?

Post by: lastRites on May 04, 2013, 09:56:53 PM
I don't think they can be repaired. Most probably one of three phases is damaged (oneor more of the MOSFETs). That is what may be producing the cracking sound..
