My quad isn't taking off. The problem isn't with the weight since I'm using the 1000kv bldc which can give a thrust of at least 600g per motor while my quad weighs less than 700g.
I'm using kk2. 1.5 fc. Esc and motors are working fine individually, even without the fc.
Build:
Fc: kk2.1.5 reflashed with stevis firmware
Esc:30A
Props: 10x4.5
Battery: 12v,3300mah
Weight: around 500g
Motors: 1000kv bldc
Frame: f450
Tx/rx: ct6b
I individually calibrated each esc as well to ensure there isn't a problem with that. Only thing is my minimum throttle is at 20 as all the motors weren't starting at the same time.
I'm also attaching a link for the video showing the problem:

Any help is appreciated, thanks

Hi soumendra.dey

Please note:
1. Make sure propeller mounting is upside down on motor.
2. Hold your Quad in you hand, Test air flow is down (please Be safe) [place Quad on your head is best way]
3. Once again check the KK board parameters.

In your video motor works well, but I think the propeller mounting is wrong, that's why thrust can't generated. Recheck the propeller configurations.

Thanks

Hi Soumendra Dey, Welcome to the forum!

I am not sure how you managed to get the weight of your 450 size quad to stay below 700gms, I assume its 700gms without the battery. Anyway there is no issue with the weight of the quad, a standard 450 size quad comes within 1.1kg to 1.3kg including the battery.

Coming to your ESC calibration, you can calibrate all the four ESCs together using the FC itself, this method is highly recommended to do. This will ensure your motors are spinning around the same rpm. If all your motors start spinning at 20% throttle then your calibration is done properly.
Remember when ever you doing any calibration remove your props before doing it, you could injure yourself if something goes wrong. only mount the propellers if you are flying.

Watching the video link you've shared its evident that the propellers are spinning in the wrong direction, the sound is different. Do double check your propeller and motor rotation, a clock wise spinning propeller should be mounted on a clockwise spinning motor and the same for counter clockwise motor and propeller.

I am not on board with SKY KALAI's method of holding the quad in your hand or over your heads, its just too dangerous.
If you want to see what direction your motor is spinning just put a small piece of tape on the motor and see what direction it spins in and then follow the method i stated above of matching propeller and motor.

And lastly dont fly your quad inside your home its dangerous you putting yourself, others and property all at risk, go outside in an isolated field and test it out!

Can't help laughing at this  :giggle:

Perhaps Sky Kalai should try this out before suggesting it to others...

Just look at your quad when the motors run, and you'll know why...

Plz dont follow these...plz.

Wrong Propeller configuration is the most common mistake in the first flights. Remove props, check motor rotations are correct and attach CW or CCW props based on that.

Wrong Propeller configuration is the most common mistake in the first flights. Remove props, check motor rotations are correct and attach CW or CCW props based on that.
So I checked and rechecked the motor and propeller direction and it is as it's supposed to be. Just to make sure that the thrust is being generated, I flipped the props and ran each motor. Doing this resulted in a upward thrust so I believe props in the correct configuration are generating downward thrust. Also, I tried to generate thrust for a single side and even that is happening. It's just that all four together aren't able to get the quad in the air. Weight isn't an issue, I rechecked and it's well within the 2:1 ratio.

Based on your reply that on flipping of the props you achieved upward thrust, it seems you have wrongly configured the motor, Esc or the props.
1. First check the ESCs connections with the Flight Controller. Are they connected to the correct ports. Make sure all the ESCs(Front Right, FL,RR and RL) are connected to correct ports(OUTx) according to the motor layout in your FC.
2. Now check for the motor Rotations. Are they in order with your FC orientations.
3. Once done now attach the props. CW props that u r using can't be used for CCW just by flipping it upside down. Don't do that.

Unrelated to your problem, KK 2.1.5 is all nice and good but next time try to save some more money, wait a little and buy a better FC. People often sell used ones for cheap. ;)

I checked the configuration, all of the configuration seems fine. Motor 1 is connected to port 1, 2 to port 2 and so on. The motor direction is also fine and I'm using the r marked propeller on the ccw motors. Could the problem be with the fc? Someone else also suggested that the kk board could be the problem.

A_Qaiser

No experience with kk board. Sorry bro. Check DM though.
