Hello friends,
i am new to rc i dont know wht to start with nd how to
so i need u frnds to help me for my mini project for my third year
i am studying in entc
wht i need is
1.want to make a cheap quad for the project
2.want the flying time to atleast 15-20 min which shloud be rechargable type
3.i dont want to use the lego parts for the structure or the frame
4.its flying height should be nearly 50m
5.it should be small in size
i have no idea but i know u frnds can help me so i am here
ty in advance for the help
Start by reading the RC India gems: http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/the-rc-india-gems/. (http://www.rcindia.org/rc-india-forum/the-rc-india-gems/.) 15-20 is a pretty long flight time for your first quadcopter. I would suggest you aim for a more realistic time like 10 minutes. You need to be a lot more specific in your questions before anyone can help. Read some more threads on this forum. You should first get an idea of what specific size quadcopter you need, what its purpose is e.g. photography, stunt flying, whether you will build your own frame or buy one, what your budget is and so on. You should then choose parts based on these factors. If you have the budget you could start with pre matched kits from here: http://www.quadkopters.com/product-category/arf-kit-rtf-kit-and-frames/ (http://www.quadkopters.com/product-category/arf-kit-rtf-kit-and-frames/)
actually i want a make a small sized one with good height and good flying time as a project and i dont want to shocase a readymade kit infront of the judging panel
i wll myself make the frame
just need specification
things requried and other details
as i am new to rc wanna learn by making myself then by buying a kit
u suggest me with the things and i will do
and budget is around 6-7k can be increased to a extent if requries
:hatsoff:
Hello friends,
i am new to RC i don't know what to start with.
so i need u friends to help me for my mini project.
what i need is
1.want to make a cheap quad for the project
2. it has to rechargeable type
3.i don't want to use the Lego parts for the structure or the frame
4.its flying height should be nearly 50m
5.it should be small in size
6.my budget is around 1500/-
and tell me the list of thing which need to make quad-copter
i have no idea but i know you can help me so i am here..
bhai ita copy paste shai ja rahe ho
See this for an idea on how to build your own quad: http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/custom-fpv-quadcopter-build/?all. (http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/custom-fpv-quadcopter-build/?all.) You can use aluminium for the arms. 6-7k is very low. You will have to spend at least 10k even if you buy second hand stuff. Do you have a transmitter/ receiver yet? That itself will cost around 3k minimum. See this post for a minimum cost breakdown http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/custom-fpv-quadcopter-build/msg203176/#msg203176. (http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/custom-fpv-quadcopter-build/msg203176/#msg203176.)
excludinf the transmitter i can spend upto 6-7k
U say u want 15 mins flight time , d battery alone will cost u 3.5k ..., and u can't buy cheap motors if u want 15mins flight time, motors will cost maybe 3.5k , flight controller will cost 1.7k , the cheapest escs will cost u 700rs per esc u need 4 , there are kits available for around 10k @ quadkopters.com ( excluding battery, charger, ND TX,rx all that will cost u around 6k)
wht if we decrease the flight time to 5-10 minutes its my first project using rc so i dont wanna spend much its just want to be good useful to fullfil my project and somewht in budget
Flight time depends on the battery ( the more Mah the more flight time ),motors ( motors that are more efficient will have more flight time, ND they cost more 2 ) and props ,since u r saying u want a smaller quad , u can buy cheap motors (abt 3k) , and escs for abt 2.4k , kk2.1 ( 1.7k) , TX rx will be 3k , battery abt 2k +charger 500rs
ohk this is done for the parts how to build the frame its dimesnsion nd the bild log if u got any
http://m.instructables.com/id/Sturdy-Quadcopter-Build/... (http://m.instructables.com/id/Sturdy-Quadcopter-Build/...) Check that out , there are many types of frames , check it out ... ( all u require is 2 bars placed to form an x ,for ur frame...), d material is ur choice (should be lightweight although)the dimensions are also ur choice (depends on what u want , and what the capacity of ur motors are, do some research on quadcopters, how it works and its parts
If u can spend 16-16.5k u can build something like this ..
2.km radio , can fly really high ..and capable of carrying a camera, flight time of 10-15mins
isint it too heavy project for a beginner like me as i scale myself zero at this things
i will first try to make out the fram if its perfect then will go to buy the moors nd other things
It's actually very easy, u can order stuff from quadkopters.com , btw if ur making ur own frame try and keep it as light as possible..., btw I never knew what a quad was 3 months back... ;D
If u have the love for rc it'll all work out , all d best for ur project!
ty
can u provide me with dimesions as the link u gave is not working out
Building a quad requires a lot of time, money and dedication. Before you buy anything, do as much research as possible. Learn about all the parts used, how to choose parts, building techniques etc. These links may help:

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay1Xh6_lZlY, (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay1Xh6_lZlY,) try this abt d frame its really ur choice.. Try and keep it small and light
Are u building it for a project ?
yup i am building it for my project has in our college no one from entc has tried to make a mecatronics project
It'll take u a minimum 1 month of research..., and I suggest u get a deal on a kit , cos if u buy stuff individually it'll cost a lot more ...., first tell me what kind of weight u expect ur quad 2 be?/
And what's ur max budget?
i need to submit my project by april end so i have a lot of time
and i think the weight of the frame should be around 100g as still m researching over it
max to max i will be spending 6-7k expect for the tx
Try this  http://www.quadkopters.com/product/rtf-kit-and-frames/st360-kit/ (http://www.quadkopters.com/product/rtf-kit-and-frames/st360-kit/) , its all d basics for 3.5k , all u need are escs abt 2.4k and a 2k battery and 3k for TX and rx , and 1.6k for flight cintrollertotal cost will be around 12k
I have been reading the threads
I want to know how to decide which type of flight controller to use nd do we need to code it from pc or its already been coded
And i will be making own frame using aluminum or fiber glass or carbon sheets listed by many people
Kk2.1 comes pre programmed, check YouTube
Is it the best tht fits my budget and any other details for it
The kk 2.1 is widely considered the best beginner's flight control board. It has an on board LCD screen for easy setup. It has relatively limited functionality e.g. no GPS but at it's price - 2100 in India, it is an excellent option for a beginner. The MultiWii board has been also suggested since you can add features like GPS later but it does not have a screen. For the transmitter, I would recommend one of these: Avionic RCB6i (Rs. 3000), FlySky FS-T6 (Rs. 3900), FlySky TH-9x (Rs. 5050), Turnigy 9X/9Xr/9XR pro (Rs. 7200-10000)
Ohk
If i want to add gps for later so which board i should consider if i get successful for this i can use the same as my be final year project by just adding few new things on it
The problem is that your budget is 6-7k. An APM 2.6 flight control board with a GPS module itself will cost around 6k. So that does not leave any money for the actual quadcopter. I suggest you start with a kk 2.1 and buy an APM later. Otherwise, PM sooraj.palakkad. He helped in building my quad and he also completed a quad with a DIY MultiWii board so you should ask him about MultiWii. I really don't know much about the Multiwii/ Crius boards.
Ohk i will ty for the help
You can use multiwii boards for gps if you want to.
Multiwio boards can u tell me more abt it
Hi, cool16yash , Received your PM, I am posting answer to your queries here, because, other people can also benefit .
Well Before, going to make your own flight control board, shall i know your skills,
I assume you have basic knowledge in electronics
Do you have experience with arduino or any other microprocessor platforms ?
Multiwii, is a very good open source flight controller Coded on Arduino platform. At first, it was intended to help people who want to make cheap Flight controllers from Arduino boards and motion sensors from Wii, nunchuck controllers. Later, many people developed the source code to include many advanced features and support for different h/w.
You can make a simple flight controller with self level feature (Like KK2), for 500 to 1000 Rs, using Arduino and a sensor break out board (MPU6050 or other supported sensors) On multiwii platform.
Later you can add advanced features too.
Right now i am in te so only basic knowledge i got as u said i am new to rc so dont know abt it
So decided to make one so i get much info at it as my budget is less i throughout of making own things tht me help me learn nd also i will get properly merged into it
So now the question how do i develop my own flight controller
Can u help me out with the details
Making your own flight controller is quite challenging, especially if you are new to RC. It will be much quicker and more convenient to buy one. But if you have experience with microcontrollers and electronics and you want a challenge, you could definitely succeed. There are several flight controllers you could make such as the Aeroquad and MultiWii. Check their websites.
Basically, you would need a base microcontroller- such as an Arduino/ clone. You would then need to add sensors such as a gyro/ accelerometer or integrated IMU module. You would also need to download firmware or develop your own (quite difficult)
Well, it's not that hard.
But I have another option for him - Can arrange parts like motors + ESC + KK2.1 + othe connectors and cables for around 5500 to 6000.
He can get a LiPo + Radio + charger for the remaining money.
That's a great price. How are you arranging it?
Bidding Ebay.com + discounts on my payment card
Ohk cool ty for the help guys
I hope my first quadcoper goes well nd hope i enjoy making rc
Please don't post with SMS language, I get what you mean by "ty", only now - Please use full words and sentences.
Ohk i will use full words
That helps.
finally i have recieved my all the parts for building a quadcopter and now i want help in understanding them and the way to make the connections and all as said by sooraj i am going on making flight controller using arduino nano with mpu 6050 so i need more details about the coonection of esc motors battery and other stuff to it
can any one help me with the power connections to the quadcopter
do i need to connect each servo to gnd and vcc??
Bump

servo? did you mean ESC?
read here: http://www.multiwii.com/connecting-elements (http://www.multiwii.com/connecting-elements)
this shows the pinout for arduino promini and the pin numbers are almost same for arduino nano too.
Ohk thankyou
Yeah the esc connection i am not getting it properly
then need a Common ground, signal to their respective pins.5
VCC can leave Not connected state if you have another power source for arduino.
Friends i am facing a problem
when i increase the throttle there is no output from the motors
even when i check it on the gui the values keep on varying on throt roll pitch and yaw points what do i do??
Hi cool16yash.
It is great that you decided on making the flight controller yourself.
I have a made three flight controllers now, twice using the arduino mega, and once using nano.
And each time, they have worked great!
So were you successful with yours?
Upload a picture, I'd love to see.
Now, as far as your problem is concerned, I can't really say anything unless I know what have you one.
Please explain your wiring and upload a few images of your setup if you can.
done with conncections and other stuff but now quadcopter is not lifting up even when the throttle is at half
now you have to check motor rotating directions, motor connections, and Propeller directions :)
Its done properly two of them are clock and two anticlock on the opposite direction
m1 - cw m1 m2
m2 - ccw \ /
m3 - cw / \
m4 - ccw m4 m3
If you think it is correct, raise the motors to <10% throttle and CAREFULLY check that all the motors are blowing air downwards.
Yeah the connection are done as sooraj has explained
Yeah motors are blowing air downwards
The thing is as soon as i throttle up to 5-10% the quad flips
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VFBLI1FjQA&feature=youtu.be (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VFBLI1FjQA&feature=youtu.be)
this is how my quad flips
the quad in the video itself is mines
most probably motor pins are still incorrect or mpu 6050 is not in correct direction.
check this for pinout.
this is how its looks on gui
motors speed on front and rear decreases and rest other have according to throttle what do i do??
Bump
Pls help me out i want to submit it before 5 april
It looks like some of the props are not spinning in the right direction, recheck it.
Anyone from kolhapur tht can help me debug me my problem
my quad keeps on flipping to left
1.i have calibrated the esc
2.the y axis is the front of the quad where the gy 87 sensor y axis lies
3.motors are moving in right direction as per the i check them without props
4.even the propellers are connected properly so they create a pressure between them
so pls guys help me with it
hoping for a positive reply
quad keeps on flipping to left?
as per your prop spinning direction(in the last video) flipping direction is front(or back).
i reassembled everything as in the motor connections and the mpu 6050 orientation then it was trying to flip to left actually i am not getting it properly what is happening with the quad
are you sure thats left?
look at the picture as per the props rotation the blue aeromarked direction is front or back.
yes the arrow marked is the front
please post short video of multiwii gui(need to clear view of graph and its values) with quad tilting 45 degree left, right, front and back.

the quad is oscillating a lot help me
that should be because of
lazy PID values or accelerometer
or
gyro orientation missmatch
or
vibration to the sensors (wire arrangements in your quad should amplify the vibrations they should be tied down or length shorten also try increasing/decreasing accelerometer filter in multiwii.)
Ohk
Wht are the minimum PID values for a 500*500 quad
With 1000 Kv motots and 1045 props
As for now mines are all set to zero
Have a look at this site very well explained!
http://blog.oscarliang.net/quadcopter-pid-explained-tuning/ (http://blog.oscarliang.net/quadcopter-pid-explained-tuning/)
default PIDs work near good, but that not zero(sometimes need to click "Read" button below that window to show values).
try
Pitch and Roll
P: 3.3 I: 0.030 D: 23
Yaw
P: 6.8 I: 0.045 D: 0
Ohh thanks a lot
And remaining all values are also set to zero
