hey brother my team is going to make a quadrotor...
and i hav all comments here...
can u plz tell me the making cost of quadrotor..
i ahv to lift 1.5 kg....
and i want ceiling abt 100 meter..
plz help me... my id is

anwar

I hope you have spend some time on the forum on the quadrotor stuff. This seems to be a commonly asked question, with no ONE particular answer.  It is somewhat similar to saying I want to buy a bike, which hardly describes the task in any detail... there are so many choices and decisions to be made along the way.

Please go through the various quad related threads, and then ask specific questions.  There is only intermediate level experience in quads here... everyone seems to be in various stages of learning :)

avdhruva since you said your making quadrotor for first time try not using gyros instead use servos to tilt your motors slightly.one servo for normal rotating motors and one for counter rotating.as you said you are beginner gyros are not so easy to understand and they are way too costly.

mate gyro gives stability.idea of servo to tilt the motor is good but without gyro it will make job difficult infact impossible to control quad.

hi anwar.
:)
i need to know is their any appropriate dimension ratios for a quadrotor. "diagonal to sides" for a lift up i am making a quad X

it is 82 cm from prop(center) to prop(center) diagonally  and 58.2 sideways ..... my quad wiegh about 3 kg  8-)

so is this okey with the physics. ???

hi, do u have a price list for the parts tp make a quadcopter ? plz reply thanx.

ANU34RAG

I want to know what should be the minimum budget to make a quadcopter just with the motive that it should stay in air at height near 5-10 metres for 2-3 minutes?
Also describe the body material
Can thermocol be used for making the body parts?

hello guy, i am new in here.....
i want to built a quadcopter (i don't have any past experience). my whole quadcopter weight should be around 1.5kgs.
what esc and motors do you guys recommend?

atulrajguru9

Please use search feature. This have been asked and answered by many times

I think you've all the parts ...you just need motors and esc.....then also im give all the parts required for quad

The motors and esc's listed are the best in terms of price so if you want good performance without being costly these are for you.....

And for quad you need motors having low KV prefer from 800-1200kv motors as they will provide more thrust....

.im also posting links to hobbyking so you can easily buy....Mostly i will focus on best but no heavy on cost so here it is....

Frame-I would say you should make your own frame as its easy....but if you want readymade here are some

Hobbyking quad frame 680mm(9.95$)-http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=20947&aff=1139072

Motors-Turnigy 2836/8  1100kv  (12.50$)-http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=18969&aff=1139072

Esc-hobbyking 30a esc 3a ubec(9.99$)-http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=15205&aff=1139072

Lipo batteries-turnigy 3s 2200mah  20-30c. (7.89$) -http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=8932&aff=1139072

Flight controller- as you are beginner i would recommend kk multicopter v2.0 board as it is very easy to use it has preset for quad select that and you are ready to fly....here's the link

Kk multicopter v2.0  (29.99$)-http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=24723&aff=1139072

Radio set (Tx & Rx)- i would recommend to buy this from indian shops as it will increase the shipping weight a lot....so heres the link for radio se 6ch with Tx and Rx...

Radio set (Tx & Rx) (Rs-3280)-http://thehobbyshop.in/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=74_9&products_id=21

Propellers 10x4.5(2lh, 2rh). (2.65$)-http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=25824&aff=1139072

Power distribution board(3.89$)-http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=23140&aff=1139072

Total weight will be....1122gms

Your budget is 20000, then also your using low end motors and esc's.....make use of that money.....at that much money you could get high performance quad.....

I am trying to make a quadcopter :banghead:(i have some programming knowledge). I am seeing that many quads are made from brushless motors. I am trying to make one using a brushed 5oooorpm motor. I am following this link:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1710948
(above link shows a quad made out of 18$........only thing i dont understand is the board he use? is it arduino compitable? programable? dose it have IMU or 6 DOF sensors?? )

That guy uses a board of unknown specifications (if you know just inform me).

so I am going to use an Arduino Uno microcontroller to make my own flight controller with 6 dof IMU.
Here is my parts list:

1. arduino uno(micro controller)
2. four motors(just look at rcgroup link.since i cannot post more than 2).
3. propellers
4.a 9v 1200mAhr lipo
5. trans receivers

I don't have a radio controller. Is it possible to build one
using two of these?
http://www.fasttech.com/products/1005/10002877/1215201-nrf24l01-enhanced-24ghz-wireless-transceiver-modul

Using arduino on both ends (quad and DIY joystick).
For ESC what should i do? can i use uln2003 or mje13005 transistor(connect motor across EC and pwm at B)?is there any DIY ESC available to make

for motor which one is good for flying  from this list

I am trying to finish it within 30 or 35$.

give me some link about design and electronics
First of all is it possible using the above parts list? ???

v2 eagle

Hi Viki,
Welcome to the forum,

1.Brushless motors are preferred for aeromodelling because of their ability to produce lot of thrust and good efficiency throught their lifespan.

2.Me either have no idea about quads,

3.anyways it isnt recommended to go for complete scratch  building of everything, atleast the Tx and RX part.

4.the board used is a controller board that takes care of controlling all the motors to spin at constant rpm to produce equal thrust to balance the multicopter.

5.Maybe you can try the below links
http://www.quadkopters.com/product/998-v2-2-4g-4ch-mini-quadcopter-with-vga-camera/
http://www.quadkopters.com/product/qk525-arf-rtf-quadcopter-kit/

6.Escs arent hard to scratchbuild but building them is a tedious job, and might be heavier and bigger than readymade ones. might not be power efficient always.

7.the given link has a readymade kit which might come under your budget.

Happy flying.

There are some major things you have not considered.

First of all, the RCG person just used a commercial controller, which has the flight controller, 3 axis gyro, 4 ESCs and a receiver in a single unit, so all he needs are motors, props and a transmitter.  Basically, it is the board that powers these ultra cheap (and really small) quads. Nothing outstanding about what he has done, and very little DIY it seems.

This is the commercial quad from which he took the controller : http://www.banggood.com/buy/WL-929-quad.html

This is the controller all-in-one unit : http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-WLtoys-V939-Beetle-4-Axis-Quadcopter-Spare-Parts-PCB-Receiving-Board-V939-05-p-49468.html

Your parts list is missing some key items, like the radio TX RX, 3 axis gyro/6DOF IMU, ESCs etc. Not to discourage you from trying, but hand crafting even some of these (tx/rx or ESCs) can itself become quite an effort.

Overall, you need to spend a whole lot more time on this forum and elsewhere, then decide how much DIY you want to do. Currently, you seem to have bitten more than what you can chew.

There are some errors in "v2 eagle"s responses to your questions also. Specifically, the job of controller is NOT to maintain constant RPM, but offset unintended changes in orientation of the craft by constantly adjusting the speeds of different motors to keep the craft level, based on a feedback loop from the 3 axis gyros (or you can think about the same in terms of an "inertial measurement unit"/IMU with 6 "degrees of freedom"/DOF).
