RAHUL QUADY

Hello,
My name is Rahul and Iam new to this hobby and Iam interested in building multi-rotors,especially quadcopters.I dont know anything  about programming but I have some knowledge about various components of quadcopter and  I even own some of them.I have four emax Brushless Motor MT2213 CW and CCW,four simon 25A esc's, a 3s 25c lipo battery,kk2.1.5 flight controller and a 6ch hobby king transmitter.I dont know where to start and I want to know weather I could build a quadcopter by using these parts.I dont even know the meaning of few words like acc calibration, etc and I dont know what to do after connecting reciver to flight controller. So please help me :help:.

Darshan for multirotors

Yes you can build a Quad with those parts. Connect all the escs to the kk board respectively, select the X quadcopter configuration in the kk.2.1.5 , calibrate the escs... when you spin the motors after selecting the configuration, they will start at different points on the throttle(one will start at 20% and other will start at 50%) so to get all these motors to run at the same time, you calibrate the motors by holding the 1st and the 4th button on the kk. After you have calibrated, you will be ready to fly using the preset PID settings (PID setting are the setting to make the quad stable and need to be adjusted till it is free of wobbles or oscillations) ..
Then nothing can stop you from getting airborne
for the setting up of this board please see some videos(setting the KK2 and this board is almost the same so you can see a KK2 video also)Please do some research on Google and this forum and I am sure you will be able to do it
Happy building

@rahul quady,
Do you have a quad frame? Have you assembled it?

@darshan for multirotors,
Darshan Sir,
With due respect, it seems you have told Rahul everything about diving from a 10 meter board,
Except to check if there is water in the pool!

He may need a quad frame to start with, no?
He didn't say he had one.
If he did, he'd have probably assembled it first, and then asked 'what to do now'.

So perhaps the first suggestion should have been 'get/build a quad frame'

Regards.

Actually lots of other things are required. You can find videos in YouTube which explain in details how to build a quadcopter.

Broadly, you need the following:

- a frame on which to mount the components ideally 450mm
- 4 motors (which you already have)
- 4 CW and CCW propellers - 10x4.5 or 8 x 4.5 depending on your frame size and battery
- 4 ESCs (you already have)
- 3S / 25C battery is ok. You haven't mentioned the mAH. Should be 2200 - 3300 or more
- Transmitter (you already have)
- Receiver (if your transmitter does not come with a matching receiver)
- lots of cables, connectors, screws, spacers, zip ties, power distribution board etc. depending on the frame and your requirement. There are so many components which are required which you'd need as you start your build.

Check the part list in my build at http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/building-apm-2-52-quadcopter-with-st360-kit/ . The flight controller and ESC is different but it would give you some idea regarding the components which are required. Apart from the first post, I posted a detailed and updated list of components later in the thread.

There are KK specific videos available in Youtube. You can check those videos out.

Thank you so much, that was helpful. :) :)

Thanks for your reply.Actually I built a frame with 30cm  plastic rulers and I even ensured that there are holes for motors and I did this by using soldering  iron.I mounted the four motors on my frame, but something else happend. Two of the motors were struggling  to spin, but they couldnt.Instead of spinning they were vibrating. And my frame looks ugly.I want to try again,do you think it will work?.

RAHUL QUADY

Iam extremely  sorry  because I forgot to mention that I have 6 10x4.5 cw and ccw props and I even have connectors used for connecting reciver to the flight controller.I dont have a frame and I am sort of bullet connectors. And thank you for replying. :) :)

Hello Rahul,

Quad is a precision equipment to fly ...... you need to give some decent level of precision and material selection.

these flimsy plastic rulers are not a very good choice. Also you can save weight by directly soldering the motor wires to ESC

Hey Rahul
What Saurabh said is right you need precision in dimension as well as plastic ruler scale do not have that strength to hold the force generated by motors. Actually here is funny story when we were doing our research on our Quad frame we used 2mm fiberglass sheet which had enough strength but when we took our test flight we found out our quad arm were bending this happen because of force generated by each motor was 650grams.  Now you think can your scale handle that much force.
if yes then go with it.
I personally think you should buy frame or use some different material to make it because if it crash you might lose your other equipment.
And the motors you are using are they compatible with 10x45prop
Check it...

Can someone please tell me how gyroscopes and acclerometers work and I even want know their applications.I did some research on them all I understood is that gyros were used to maintain orientation and acclerometers could defy inertia.Do camera gimbals work on principles of acclerometers?,do they also defy inertia?.Please help me......

Why do we need a servo for a tricopter?

rastsaurabh

In layman words

the third motor(back) uses servo to give rudder effect, for left and right movement.

RAHUL QUADY

Can we use anykind of servo?,I have a Turnigy TG9 e 9g Analog Micro Servo.

Himadri Roy

No you just cannot use any servo. And the servo you are suggesting will breakdown in no time. The brushless motor produces high rotational torque and to move the motor a servo with a high torque(min. 2kg-cm) is required! If possible use a metal geared servo as the plastic gears will worn out quickly! Preferably use an digital servo instead of an analog servo

I personally use Futaba S3003 servo for the tail servo in my dragonfly copter.

Is it necessary  to buy two  CW and two CCW motors,to build a quadcopter?I bought two CW and CCW emax 2218 brushless motors before.
I lost them,so I want to buy again. In most of the tutorials in YouTube, they never mentioned anything about CW and CCW motors.

Himadri Roy

There are only few companies selling CCW CW motors. Other wise normally people use the normal brushless motor(no specified direction of rotation) with CCW and CW props and the motors are made to rotate in that direction.
So it not necessary if its not labelled!

CCW motors just have the prop adapter threaded the opposite way. With normal prop adapters, the CCW rotation of the motor will end up loosening the prop nut, which will then fly off in mid air. If you are using motors without, CCW adapters, you should use Nylock nuts to prevent the propellor from flying off.
