last month i and my friends were flying quad NAZA GPS enabled worth (more then 600$) and that was a nice evening with little  bit of wind. we were enjoying and testing our hands on the quad , it was a very good machine ,i did some hovers and fly here and there for 3 to 4 minutes , the battery was old 1800 mah
3s  ,i assigned the low voltage system on naza for 10.8 v with 0.8 load , this will take naza quad automatically on ground when the battery get low from this ,

suddenly i tried to take my quad to a little bit height of less then 30 mtrs , and then after that when i tried to pull it down , it did not react with the radio functioning and starts to climb  in the sky and get tilted in 1 direction and starts moving away at to south direction at the same time , the area where it went was very crowded we could not even see it after 1 or 2 minutes as it went very much high and far ,

then we went to that area immediately, asked 100 of people no body have  a clue of it, :( ???. in coming weeks we went to more depth area a still no signs ,the area is so big that we cannot go through every street of it and even we do not have any idea that how far it went as the battery was almost 70%  there when it lost the signal .

then i tried to calculate the distance for S=D/T and found that  it should go some where near to 4 km , if i can have some idea of it by doing some math that would be very helpful.

i post it because i really want to  know about what you guys think and if i can get help by math .

Sad to know your quad story. To help understand the problem, if you like, please share what was GPS switch position, make and model of radio, LED signal at the time of departure/take off, your NAZA programming details etc..

This would help understand how and what went wrong. It is strange that radio did not respond. Was fail Safe programmed?

Do share more details please.

You can trust the radio so much until your first crash with it.

i always fly on gps mode , regarding programming i was perfectly flying it , i did all the basic things , there was a very good position hold as i had more then 7 satellites (green light only on pmu) locked.

Radio: turnigy 9x.
Position of GPS switch time you lost the bird = already told you it was on gps mode
Fail Safe = no

We are still missing the details here.
Radio: make and model.
Position of GPS switch time you lost the bird
Fail Safe?

Just trying to understand what went wrong.

If you live in a residential. Area go to your local cable tv operator and put a missing
Ad also do the same thing with the local fm station .... should not cost very much

vineet

good option , but the cost estimation is not what you think , i even called up all the guys from local tv , the cost they are demanding is not feasible .

I guess one important lesson to b learmt here:  dont take technology for granted!!!!!.  If it has to fail ...... it will.  its just a matter of when.

theflyer

All said and done ......... it is most likely that somebody must have stolen it and sold it to someone

dreamfly

But if it is still out there with someone it should be returned to it's rightful owner.  It's probably just a matter of when.

theflyer

I just have 1 question to vineet
What sort of locality were you flying your plane in?

dreamfly

I had a word with Vineet recently.  if anybody here is using a Naza,......  at the slightest indication of a radio glitch, such as a lost signal or something like that,  I suggest you have a look at your radio.  Also avoid using basic radio equipment on expensive stuff such as the naza.  There's always a difference in quality vs price.    Turnigy with HK board ... No problem.

Yes, i am sure someone has stolen it. These thing looks attractive that nobody can resist, even they don't have knowledge of RC.

yes you are right donot take technology  for granted ,ok if some body have stolen it or may be tried to sell it online we all will have a notification for that if anybody try to sell it online as we are the member of the largest forum in india . But would like to tell you all that if it is a simple case of landing the quad on anybodies roof  he must be waiting for the owner , i have even announced the reward on the recovery and i have printed 1000 posters . i have not covered the entire areas it is so big , that is why i am requesting here for some maths so that i can be helped .

lastRites

I do not think any amount of maths would help you if you were flying in a crowded locality. :( Did you lodge a diary at the local police station? Whenever you fly something in a public place put a sticker on it with your name and contact details. Offer some "reward" if someone finds it and returns it to you..
It is the pervading law of all things organic and inorganic,
Of all things physical and metaphysical,
Of all things human and all things super-human,
Of all true manifestations of the head,
Of the heart, of the soul,
That the life is recognizable in its expression,
That form ever follows function. This is the law.

Dharmik

I have an idea, it might help us to get it back. It's kinda CIA stuff, instead of inviting suspect to come and surrender you will have to go to the doorstep first. But for that we need satellite image and coordinates of that field and last known direction and all details in which it flew away so we can trace complete path. Please check this topic. The guy lost control during fast ascend and his quad flew away. Later he found it. Check last image which shows complete path.

Vineet, if you could mention the locality around which you were flying, I am hopeful a lot of people on the forum, living close to that area would be willing to ask around. I am happy to do that. Also if you have a picture of the quad, I will be glad to have it posted on my facebook wall and have it shared. We might be able to trace it.

Are you kidding? I think he'll be inturn asked to forget the quad or be informed that flying a UAV was 'prohibited' or in the least will have to answer a lot of straight and annoying questions. (MHO)

To Vineet : Did you lose your line of sight? I remember reading on RCG that someone who was flying his DJI-controlled quad in the woods lost the line-of-sight and lost the quad. But it was traced by the police later.

dreamfly

I can answer this:  The quad seems not to reciprocate to any radio commands and just decided he wouldn't listen to anything and flew away.  So the whole Return to home and GPS  shit never even triggered.

Nope but seen it getting lost but luckily the battery was quite low so didn't fly far about 250 m off the ground we were flying on

The only problem that i have experienced is at times it stops respoding for some time don know why. Lets just hope the best for vineet
