Just an idea that was in my head. Could be helpful, could not be ?
Has anyone tried it ?
Any comments? Just a bit of brainstorm here...

DropSafe is all PRO. I'm talking what we actually can make.
check the second video..
did that. more realistic :D
I plan to make one, where do you tink may I get the parachute material itself ?
i think you can use umbrella fabric for parachute....
hmmm point.
yes you can put umbrella fabric with fishing thread ( it is strong enough tu handle quad weight ) pack it in plastic box take one rubber band and fix its one side with frame and other with servo arm.. you can use 6th CH of your radio to trigger servo to launch parachute....... great idea. good luck ....
will do and thanks.
any time bro... welcome...
You can diy, but it wont work all the time because there would be lot of chances of the parachute getting entangled in the props, or not opening up in time , or opening while its upside down etc. Moreover it wont work at low heights as by the time you are able to react to the crash, it would have crashed albeit with less impact if parachute opens up correctly.
Ardupilot has this parachute feature(there are some others FC's too) wherein it monitors lean angle of the copter, velocities etc and deploys a parachute at correct angles in the event of failure. And its also able to detect failures quickly meaning less reaction time, which helps to recover quad from 15-10 meter height with proper setup.
As for material, covers(shiny ones) available for cars is also good IMO. Actually, one of the sales person had told me once that its the same material as parachute, but I took it with a pinch of salt!
alright. Well I think I have to put it on hold as i think i have other things to attend to XD
