DJI, the company that gave us the far too popular Phantom line of quadcopters, doesn抰 just make the most popular line of FPV quads. Their top of the line flight controller, The Naza V2, is very good, able to connect to flight planning software that will set waypoints, talk to peripherals over a CAN bus, and has improved flight algorithms. On the other hand, their 憆educed price model, the Naza Light, can抰 connect to these nifty CAN bus peripherals and has a bit of a problem with drifting the quad from one side or another.

The Naza V2 sells for around $300, and the Naza Light sells for about $170, both with a GPS module. The hardware inside the V2 and Light is exactly the same. We all know how this is going to go down, right?

[udnham] over on the RC Groups forum figured out a way to load the more capable Naza V2 firmware on the Naza Light, giving the cheaper flight controller features that were, until now, only found in the more expensive V2 hardware. The upgrades include better algorithms for GPS position and altitude hold, the ability to connect to DJI peripherals including the Bluetooth module, the iOSD, and camera gimbals, Octocopter support, the DJI datalink modem, and a bunch of other features.

Even though DJI is using the same hardware in the $170 Naza Light and the $300 Naza V2, upgrading the firmware requires an Internet connection to the DJI servers. [udnham] wrote a utility that modifies the /etc/hosts file on your computer, runs a service, and allows you to upgrade your firmware on the Naza Light. It抯 basically a $130 firmware upgrade for a DJI flight controller that抯 a single download away. Some reason i deleted link if anybody want please pm me

Yes i have gone through the details too.. kind of unable to decide whether to do it or not

roshan.dixit

Is it reversible ?? if not i wont prefer to do so ,  but v2 is lil more stable than lite ..

foolsworldus

They say its reversible..but i am in a dilemma whether to take the plunge for more stability or stay put

hello rc bhailog ,, i've already upgraded my lite long back and i must say , the change is noticable,
the process can be rolled back - you can downgrade to naza lite and fly asiff nothing ever happened, i suggest you guys should give it a try,
after upgrade, mine stopped drifting, and no aileron / elevator inputs needed wile take off ... loving it ..  :)
this website should clear all your doubts . http://naza-upgrade.com/

Hello, are we still able to upgrade naza m lite to naza v2? because some blogs and videos in youtube says that they were unable to do it now.
is it so or is there a way to do it?

Dharmik

it should work. site is online and process is straight forward. v2 is stable and GPS fix takes less time. i see huge improvements in performance. here is the video taken last year with v2 loaded on lite.

Thank you. I purchased a DJI naza m Lite recently and will receive it in few days.  I will try to update it to v2 and will post the result.

above method worked to upgrade firmware 4.0.0 to 4.0.2 but there are two new firmware versions were out 4.0.4 and 4.0.6. One more tool available to upgrade lite to v2 which is easy to downgrade as well. Please check here. One of my lite upgraded to 4.0.6 using this tool.
