Title: Need help in configuring FC KK2.0 board
Post by: subbu46 on February 12, 2014, 01:45:31 AM
Hi guys, I need help in configuring KK2.0 quadcopter. I have built a quadcopter recently with help of my friend Sandeep Bajare in pune. There is a problem with the quad as all the motors are not rotating at the same time when the throttle is applied. when jerked the throttle upto 80-90% all motors rotates. But if i lower the throttle to 50% one of the motor stops. I have tried resetting the settings to default and tried reloading the motor layout. Tried setting the PI gain settings. Tried doing receiver test. Tried doing ESC and ACC caliberation still i have the same problem. Can someone help me configuring it up correctly so that i get a stable flight?? Can i get detailed information on the configuration settings about the values?? You can also call me at 9764162660 post 11:30am.

Parts that i have used:-
KK2.0 FC
4x Avionic C2830 KV850 QUAD brushless motor
4x Avionic 20a ESC
Blade SR DSM2 Transmitter 6ch 2.4Ghz
10.45 props
Q450 frame
Turnigy 2200mah 3c

Please explain the steps that you've followed during Calibrating ESC's.

Keep on increasing the minimum throttle value in your kk2 board settings till al the motors starts rotating at the same time. It will definitely solve your problem. But i forgot where exactly this setting lies in kk2 board bcoz my quad is not wit me rite now.

i tried the ESC caliberation from the menu... it states Caliberation would happen at next start up.. but when restarted it doesnt caliberate.. the firmware version is 1.6. Please provide the configuration settings that i can use to set it.. i need the values..

I also tried holding the button 1 and 4 before connecting the battery to the FC.. still no luck..

Calibrate it one by one, its better than calibration via kk 2.0. Calibration via kk2.0 has been dodgy.Settings will be different in each case hence, its better you tune it yourself. And to a certain extent its alright if a motor begins spinning late. "Minimum Throttle" setting can be found in under "Misc. Settings" probably.

Whats the AUW and the battery(3c ?) being used?
Did the quad ever fly during initial setup?

It does the take off and drifts or tries to flip... decreasing the throttle a bit to 40 % it drops the quad...

It cannot drift and flip at the same time, because a quad flips if motor layout/prop orientation is wrong on takeoff or acc/gyro calibrated wrongly etc. Every time you reset/flash your board, settings are lost so make sure you select proper motor layout, assign switch for auto level etc.

If its drifting you need to tune, check the thread for more info.
http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/quad-tends-to-drift-forward/ (http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/quad-tends-to-drift-forward/)

And yes decreasing the throttle below a certain point may suddenly bring your quad down, because your quad attains enough thrust say at 40% of throttle and it would begin to hover, and if you decrease it below 40% it will come down. Now you can hover at 5' or 20" at 40% throttle and the moment you decrease throttle it will come down. Even a gust of wind can bring your quad down if you were hovering at the threshold.
For this you need to set a throttle curve in your radio or dr/expo which Im not so good at. Google it to find more info.

What you can do is
1- reset the board
2- perform acc calibration on a flat surface
3- choose motor layout and check prop orientaion
3- assign auxiliary switch for auto level.
4- select how you wish to arm the board

After completing above steps, try to fly the quad in auto level and tune for drifting. I must add that your quad will never hover or stay in a spot, there will be some amount of drift but very little.

So all this time you were flying without autolevel?
How do you program your radio? looks like a HK 6ch clone.
