Title: New to APM .
Post by: parichya.gautam on February 20, 2015, 10:00:46 PM
I just bought my APM and have a decent amount of doubts , need someone to clear them up.

Issues like which wire goes where and using the MissionPlanner plague me ..

ok so i am fiddling since about 7 hours now, updates:

1> telemetry works
2> ESC calibrated
3> basics done

The issues:
1> Unable to get the OSD working ( the lights come up but having connection issues )
2> How do i use my servos with this ?
3> ALSO, mid way something burned in the board, its working fine ... but i saw smoke under the case . Since everything is fine , should i be worried ?

Other than this ... nothing .. for this, PLEASE HELP :(

UPDATE:

Ok, i was fiddling with the MP a bit and came across THR_MAX.. mine was set at 800 ... the recommended was 1000, pushed it and Voila! getting full throttle now

BUT ... yea there came a but ... the lowest speed of the motor is pretty high now say must be around 30%of the speed with just 10% throttle ...

How do i go about this now ... sigh ...

As you already found the THR_MAX , it won't be that difficult to find THR_MIN !!

hi, i own an apm, i'll answer best as i can. btw, do have some patience, replies will come in a day or two.

The smoke shud be something you shud look into. a burned out part isnt something to be ignored.
And THROTTLE_MIN shud fix you other problem.. and do use google.

I suggest googling for RCTimer APM. you will come across a mega thread with all possible info and do's and dont's.

Ok, so i got fed up and rest the board, started everything from scratch... now that all the initial setup is done .. facing another issue now.

everything is calibrated and yet when i push the throttle only the M1 and the M3 motors move, other 2 stay still and ESC does make sounds while this happens ..

more precisely- at upto 10% throttle, the motors move M! M3 and M4 ... after 10% M4 stops and only M1 and M3 rotate ...

WTF IS THIS SHIT ! I really getting tired now :/

SO a very strange thing happened, Earlier if you remember, I mentioned about the issues I was having with my APM... I just took out the case and tried it , IT WORKS FINE NOW ~~!!~~ ( well sort of )
The current situation is that the motors not working that I had earlier is no more there ( I took out a piece of foam inside and its working fine now tongue emoticon
ANYWAYS, now it's actually back to square one.
The issue I am facing now:
Once armed ,the starting speed of the motors is about 30% of the throttle .. with sticks at full it increases to about 60% ..
I've fiddled with the THR_ values, but no avail .. any help here ??
ALL RESET, Calib, done ...

they're uploading ...

hey i reduce the THR_MIN to 30 and it seemed to have worked .. but they just start from 10% throttle ... automatically increase with the stick being in the same position ... ALSo , as a side effect, one or 2 motors now some times start late :P

Normally, 3 things need to check for this issue.

Re Calibrate Radio(especially Rudder.),
Re Calibrate ESC,
Check Flight Mode (I think you are now trying with Altihold change that to stabilize)

Title: Re: New to APM .
Post by: parichya.gautam on February 25, 2015, 07:29:53 PM
calibrated ESC 3 times now .. Tx method too ..
Radio too done.

flight mode is in stabilize

do they respond(two motors that stopping) while giving left/right rudder?
Title: Re: New to APM .
Post by: parichya.gautam on February 25, 2015, 08:05:52 PM

Title: Re: New to APM .

I did grant editing access ... idk whats wrong ..

NOW the ONLY issue is that M4 is starting late .. other wise the speed issue is resolved ( flashed the previous version ) :D

Just help me with the M4 moving slow issue ??
Title: Re: New to APM .
Post by: akhilzid on February 25, 2015, 11:04:51 PM
do M4 responding while tilting? if yes then nothing wrong with that,Just increase THR_MIN a little.

Still I'm Concerned about ESC Calibration, How Did you done that?

Via FC Or Directly Connected to RX?
Title: Re: New to APM .
Post by: parichya.gautam on February 25, 2015, 11:07:51 PM
M4 respond as in it responds to the rudder... so yea ...

ESC Calib, how was it done as in ? did ti both was , inidivisual via Rx and then via APM
Title: Re: New to APM .
Post by: parichya.gautam on February 25, 2015, 11:17:03 PM
OH !!! ,, i think its fine now ... the motors are starting up fine but the M4 stop the first ( so i assume that its a bit slower than oothers )

Another issue here..

BUT its tilting towards the back side .... What do i do .. ??
Title: Re: New to APM .
Post by: akhilzid on February 25, 2015, 11:19:25 PM
ESC Calibration is Better Via APM will give exact same values for all ESC.

Steps:
1) Disconnect battery.
2) Switch On Transmitter.
3) Throttle UP to Full
4) Connect Battery to APM(You can see one special LED sequence Going On Like  1 2 3)
5) Disconnect Battery.
6) Connect Battery Again.(Still with Full throttle.)
7) Can hear beeps from ESC as in Normal Calibration.
8) Throttle Down to Bottom.
9) and give little throttle and check all motors are spinning in same speed.
10) Disconnect Battery.

more pics.

hope you are able to get which wire goes where ,,,

basic idea.

1>Have a Y-Cable, originates from the APM telemetry port
2>1st end is inserted in the telemetry Tx, 2nd has jumper 4 wires ( red, yellow,Black,Green)
3>One Y-Cable more.has 3 connections, One for the battery, one for the FPV Tx, one for the camera.
4> OSD as shown in the pic.

help needed.
