hi

I'm planning to build the Hobbyking X666 Glass Fiber Quadcopter Frame 666mm with Turnigy Multistar 20 Amp Multi-rotor Brushless ESC 2-4S.

is that ESC correct choice for this??

I request the multirotor guys here to suggest me the suitable motors for this either from hobbyking or local hobby shops.

:hatsoff:

rcrcnitesh

yes the esc is perfect for motor go for sunnysky 980kv from rcmumbai.com

The SS980kv are very good motors, but for the frame mentioned, I would suggest a lower kv motor. The SS980 on 4s are good for around 1-1.2kg AUW. If you use the SS980's then 30A esc would be a safer option. For lower kv motors 20A should be enough.

rcrcnitesh

Ashimda sir
this quad is not a heavy lifter frame like your tarot so these motors should be good.

Or he could use Emax 810kv motors.

Dinesh.fly

thank u guys but hobbyking suggests 28-XX 1100~1300KV Brushless motors

the frame weight is 415g (w/out electronics)

rcrcnitesh

don't get those ntm motors they are crap ( I am saying this based on 100's of reviews)

with that E-max motor 20A ESC ok or should I go for higher rating ESC?? propellers suggest me the propellers also.

You mean 666 mm diameter? Why not a little smaller like a 450 or less

Dinesh.fly

hi sachin, should we start from a smaller one??? bigger is not a stable or what?? thank u..

rcrcnitesh

It's not that. Bigger will fly more stable.

Hi Dinesh, bigger frames means more load to lift and therefore powerful motors and Esc...things start getting expensive..one crash and you will be discouraged.
Not disagreeing with rcritesh.

Dinesh.fly

about the motors:

should I get 2 CW and 2 CCW motors ?? thank you.

rcrcnitesh

Or you can get the quadcopters kit from qk.

Go for nylon arms like quads  such as alien frame quads etc, they are very very strong
Hiller450 chopper,Sky surfer v2,Wilga2000,450quad(building)

My doubt is whether the 2 motors should be ccw?

IndianHobbyShop

Don't worry about those CW CCW written on those motor listings.

Basically all it's referring to is "The threading of the prop adapter" and not "how the motor is going to spin"
If you are getting CW CCW set then well and fine. If not, don't run behind it. It's not essential as such.

You can easily reverse the rotation of any of these BLDC motors by simply swapping any 2 wires (from the ESC to the motor)

The above is right.

Quality of sensors and esc refresh rates have improved and you can ignore cw ccw rotation.

all you have to do is make sure that the prop is pushing air downwards and the prop speeds up when
that axis dips

Dinesh.fly

thank u all for the clarification.pls provide a link to know about the basics and setting up a multirotor.

that video is about setting up the KK board..I want to know  about the basics of a quad building n installing the electronics.thank u.

There are several steps.... I think the frame motor and Esc selection are main steps. So did you select the frame ?

Dinesh.fly

The same hobby king x666 frame, its not that much heavy to go for bigger electronics.

rcrcnitesh

If thesame frame then you should go for the mt2216 800kv motors with blueseries 30 amp esc dont forget 11*4.7 prop.

Ok now you will have to add up the overall weight (all up weight AUW). I know this is before you select the motors and Esc but you can take approx values for those for now. Remember motors prop and Esc are 4 in each quad so add accordingly. Add the flight controller and everything else. What ever weight you get multiply by 3 to factor 3 times the AUW weight...then divide it by 4....this number is the approx thrust to be obtained by each motor and prop combination. Once you get the number let us know.
