i finished most of the build part of the quad these last few days

after discussion with sushil uncle opted for CA as the preferred glue for the frame. then finished gluing the frame together.

Sandeep uncle helped me finish soldering the connectors onto the ESC and batteries.

only the twin parallel battery to quad ESC power harness needs to be finished and the frames motor mounts to be modified to accept the X mounts that came with the motors. after the concern that satyagupta mentioned about the frame i have decided to insert in 2 10mm CF tubes through the design holes in the frame arm supports in an X fashion

photos of frame and electronics setup attached

Fly high if you have good set of batteries.....!

Pikle6

Dharmik

It is good to have all escs same else motors won't start in sync. It will affect stability.

Pikle6

thanks dharmik i am ordering 4 red brick 25 A esc from rcelectro since HK will take a lot of time for the replacement unless someone here at rcindia has a spare lying around

That's great bro. Get good quality programable ESCs. And make sure motor to esc and esc to battery connections don't short in any case, it will immediately burn esc and motor within seconds and you won't get chance to disconnect battery. Don't use tape or anything like that as a temporary setup.

Pikle6

hey dharmik i have a programming card but other than low cut-off setting change did you make any other changes in your quad

Dharmik

I have set mine
low voltage cut-off
ni-mh
reduced power
switched between 8kH to 16kH(i don't see any difference in performance)

Pikle6

so i guess that there is a change in the specifications of the controller board

Control Board - https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=24723

i have also begun with the modifications required to mount the motors with the stock x mount by adding an extra piece of balsa to elevate the mount and fit the complete x mount

there were concerns raised about the quad frame i got from hobbyking regarding vibrations and also the motor mounts had to be modified for mounting of motor and the motor mounts were not perfectly parallel to the ground. the first idea was to reinforce the frame with carbon fibre rods and that seemed to work pretty good but i wanted a sturdier frame.

so i went to the local plywood shop got  1.5' spars of 1cm thick plywood and the centre plates and motor mounts cut out of beautiful orange patterned acrylic sheets.

the total span of the quadcopter now is 940mm

(moderators could you kindly rename the topic to Quadcopter 940mm (HK multi-rotor board V3) Build Log)
