Some major changes

1.
I bought 8x4.5 gemfan props recently for some tests, i have been using 10x4.5 till now. Test results
ADVANTAGES
- More stability and control.
- Able to handle wind gusts.
DISADVANTAGES
- Lifts of at 50-52% throttle(before it was 47-49%).
- Spacer ring of these props doesn't fits well on the 3mm shaft so i got prop adapters now.

2.
These props have 5mm hub so i bought brand new prop adapters from RCB. Now prop fits perfectly with them.

3.
And now one of the biggest change, i have replaced old reworked shafts with hextronik motor shafts. Looks simple task but it took 2-3hrs. Damn grub screws you know.. See how beautiful they are with new makeover.

Check pics below. Motors with replaced shafts, new adapters and old shafts(one broke during reworked operation)

EDIT: Video uploaded.

Very good bro, something which is common with my quad and your quad it drifts a lot :giggle:

Yeah bro, one possible reason is i was flying with stock settings(P gain 50) of v1.2 firmware which is really low for simonized ESCs. I just tweaked I gain and I limit during that, if you watch video very closely you will notice low frequency wobble. In rapidESC video they were at 100.

Nice flying Dharmic  {:)} I'm sure this can hover hands off if flow at a little more height.

Dharmik

Thank you sir. I am learning and loving this hobby now.

spitfire

Where did you get Gemfan props? Did you buy it from any lhs?

satyagupta

Wow very nice bro. One thing that was clearly visible that after you gain a height quad is more stable.. Very nice stuff bro, just one thing did you changed your PI values?? Cos quad lifted with a rock stability. Very nice stuff again :-)

@spitfire
I bought them from here, i see GF written on it. I would say they are really strong and less balancing required.
2 pairs (they are in the above last 3 videos)
http://rchobbyaddict.com/product_info.php?products_id=436&osCsid=be62aa1308045395b9d5a99d566024ed
3 pairs (still NIB)

@Satya bro you were absolutely right and now it's confirmed that these things are more stable at 4-5 feet and above, hard to get stable hover near the ground due to air turbulence. Yeah i have tweaked with gain settings in the above video. I will power up the board and post exact settings here but they were between 100-150 on P.

Swapnil bro i have good news for you. I found one guy Mr.Akshat Deshpande from Nagpur with same interest. Not only he scratch built his tri but also coded the controller himself. It's worth contacting him.
here is his RCG profile link

here is his youtube channel

Please contact him immediately because you have very less time left.

I ordered green coloured 9047 props from hobbyking and they have 'GEMFAN' written on them. But they don't seem to be matching Dharmik bro's description. They are weak but balanced.

I also bought the same green props from HK and getting awesome result.
After using two different type of slow props I had finally settled for GWS DD 9x5 props. But when I switched to these HK props, my T-Copter became much more stable and I'm getting at least 40% more flight time now.

This is really confusing. Even two identical GF props have some difference. The set i bought from rchobbyaddict came with spacer rings and other one bought from rcb has no spacer rings.  Except that everything is similar including profile and hub dia.

Dharmik Bhai,
Where did you buy those hextronik motor shafts from.  Are they for the DT750's??

I have been plagued by crashes off late and am re-building my quad once again.  The recent one was a ESC failure and pop! into a pond over which I was hovering.... Camera and all.  I am still drying my camera and haven't switched it on as yet. Total loss as follows:
1. 2   F-30 ESC's  (one smoked before the drop and the other probably shorted after it hit the water).
2. 2 APC  props
3. Sony DSC - WX 150.  Yet to determine the loss.
4. 4 Bent motor shafts  (DT750)

I have seen that you have started hovering your quad well.  I cannot view the video from my office comp since youtube is not allowed.  Will go home and check.  I haven't logged into this forum in almost a month now.

WOW!!! Dreamfly sir, where were you been? Missed you. Believe me i am really happy to see real hero back on the board. Oh and sorry to hear about that. As you know i am using these motors for my quad but their 65mm long shafts are unnecessarily long.
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__5429__AX_2308N_1100kv_brushless_Micro_Motor.html
After that initial crash i was planning to replace them but couldn't find 3mm shaft anywhere. I found 3.17mm more popular nowadays. I didn't know that the solution was with me allready. I have 4 x hextronix 24grams motors in the house(i was thinking to sell them).
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__5208__hexTronik_24gram_Brushless_Outrunner_1700kv.html
They have 45mm shaft. I just replaced them with old shafts. Now it's perfect and new adapters bought from rcbazaar fits perfectly on it. And best part is vibrations are greatly reduced. Sir may i ask you that is this the motor that you are using?
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6247
I think its shaft(80mm) is too long. If you are planning to replace them get short shaft and new 4mm adapters and i am sure you will be surprized with the performance. Check aeroworks.co.in, rcbazaar and rcdhamaka they stock 4mm shafts of different length.

dreamfly

Hey Dharmik Bhai,  Anybody can become a hero and please dont flatter me.  I am still learning and just take some extra un-necessary stupid risks.  I woulld seriously advice anybody flying these things to avoid innocent by-standers.  Anything can happen and believe me they will happen when we least expect them.
Yes my motors are : http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=6247

Do you know where I can get them?

Dharmik

Yeah sir, they are really unpredictable, i just wonder how that ESC failed in mid flight. Btw i am searching that shaft. I will update you if found.

kartikmadhira

hello dharmikbhai, this is kartik and i live here in anand, gujarat. good to hear someone near my city.btw where do u live in bharuch?

Dharmik

@dreamfly sir
I found one shaft here. On rcb they are out of stock
http://www.aeroworks.co.in/motor_mounts_acc_1615.html
@kartik bro nice to meet you. i am from bharuch, zadeshwar road, sulekh bunglows, near inox theatre.

dreamfly

Thanks Dharmik Bhai,
I am also very surprised as to how the esc could burn out.  I have attached a pic for you to see.

The shaft pic's look a bit different.... in that they do not have the thread.  How did you remove the shaft from the bell?  I tried it once after removing the single grub screw attached on the top of the bell but the shaft wouldn't budge.  Do we have to bang it out with a hammer?

dreamfly

Ahhh Finally got to view your video's.  I can see that you are progressing steadily which is a good sign.  Suggest get yourself some more room. You'll gain more confidence.
