Hello all!! :salute:

I'm new to RCing, though I have been into Arduinos and Raspberry pi for sometime now. Recently, I've been bit by the RC bug and would like to try my hand at it.

I have spent the better part of today reading up about multicopter design/assembly and feel I have a basic grasp of the subject matter.

My final goal is to make a FPV multicopter with a really good range on it, but before this I want to make a simple/basic quad set-up and see how it works out for me.

Now, the components I am choosing for this basic set-up will not be good enough for my eventual FPV plan, and will get better parts for it when the time comes. The only part that I want to carry on from this set-up to the next is the remote control Tx/Rx. So, could anyone suggest a good Tx/Rx, bearing my final goal in mind?

Avionic RCB7X (7ch tx with 7ch rx and wireless simulator) - Is this good enough for FPV?

OR

should I go with something from Turnigy or FrSky or something else all together??? I have come across far too many on the net and frankly I'm finding it confusing ???

Any and all help appreciated! Thank You!! :hatsoff:

Get a 9channels transmitter, if you have the budget go for Taranis or get a turnigy 9X and later you may upgrade the RFmodule :)

Suraj, really helpful of you to respond so quickly. :thanks:

Last few questions, if you don't mind  ;D,

1). Difference between these two : FrSky 2.4GHz ACCST TARANIS X9D and X8R Combo Digital Telemetry Radio System (Mode 2)- New Battery & TARANIS X9D PLUS and X8R Combo Digital Telemetry Radio System (Mode 2) ?? I'm unable to pick up on the technical jargon. :(

2). The appropriate RF module upgrade??

3). Finally, if and that is a big IF, I decide to make a hexacopter, will that setup operate well with these 9-channel controllers?

1) don't know exactly - may be some one else can help here but X9D plus has added feature of Haptic Vibration Feedback Command

2)If you buy this radio, you probably won't go to upgrade module :)

3)For flying any multirotor, you actually just need 4 channels, all other ch. is for added features, so yes :)

Also rcbazaar has a range of Graupner radios (New stock), you might like them too .

Thanks again mate, but Graupner seems like overkill. Let me get comfortable with basic stuff first  :)
Anyway, will update once I have decided on the components for the rig.

Hello again Sooraj,
Wondering if you could take a look at the parts that I have chosen for my test rig???

Here it goes....
* Hiller Q450 frame
* Avionics C2830 850kV motors
* 10 x 3.8 propellers - I'm opting for 3.8 instead of 4.5 for more stability
* KK2.1 Flight Controller with casing
* EMAX Simon K Series 30A Brushless ESC - Will this be compatible with the the other components that I have chosen?
* Wolfpack White 2800mah 30C 3S - wanted to opt for the 3000mah, but no stock
* Charger - I don't know about this one. Any suggestions??
* and finally, Graupner MZ-24 - saw and held it for a while at the store today and was convinced by the storekeeper to go for this. Anyway, it is a long term investment.
The receivers for this are pretty expensive, and if I don't want to use the ones that come with it, is it possible to use some third party Rx and pair it with this Tx??

Have I missed out any parts here?
