Hello all,
i was bitten by the design bug again. i decided to make a Mini Quad (280mm MtM). I really liked BlueSkyRC's Wasp 280 deisgn, i decided to design the quad on the same lines and curves.
i dont intend to complete this quad, just planning to complete the frame and assemble it.

2.5mm HDF will be used
comments and suggestions welcome :)

:salute: good work done :bow: {:)}
Thank You. :)
i have made a few changes:
1. changed motor mount size to fit standard 28mm motors. (though i can still switch to 16mm by simply swapping the booms.
2. added better body reinforcements to keep the body strong and stiff.
more to come
regards
Yashodhan Pasari
Why don't you post a picture of the finished product (fully assembled)?
Yup I would love to see that Also.
Regards,
Aman.

Very neat job. Really Nice.
Where did you got the drawings from? i can get these CNC on glass/carbon fiber.
I designed it myself. Start to finish... I can CNC as well.. However this was meant for wood... Glass fiber and carbon fibre don't need such reinforcements
Cool
Thanks
Awesome work man.. ;D
Thank you Arun Ji. :)
Great job Yash. You have an alternate profession as a jigsaw puzzle cutter waiting for you. Jokes apart, that is very neat.
What motor /prop / esc combo would be ideal for this craft? Also, what should be the ideal AUW of this model.
Thanks and Regards.
Sorry, my questions have been answered by the Wasp 280 mini site.
Just received my kit from Yashodhan. Superb quality! Just needs to be shielded from moisture with a good coat of paint and varnish.
Now I need 4 motors AND 4 ESC's AND a board AND a camera.........................
Thanks a ton Yashodhan! :hatsoff:
Haha, you never know I may already be a jigsaw puzzle maker. Jokes apart, even i make some mistakes and then end up getting parts re-cut.
Thank you for your compliments, Glad you liked the kit.
Please do note that my kit is designed for the standard 28mm motors(you may install smaller ones by redrilling the plates) , since 16mm/18mm motors aren't readily available here
Also please post a "Build Log/Review" of the same
Regards
That custom frame really looks good. :D
Regards,
Aman.:)
Thanks aman. :) highly appreciate it.
Regards
i have plans to kit it for Rs.475/- inclusive of shipping and handling across India... anyone interested?
how much would it cost for a CF frame in same design???
Hi, I am not cutting this in cf, because it would be overkill. I can cut on plywood for about Rs. 75 more
I can god GF/CF cutting. but since its designed by Yash if he is ready then i can do the cutting depending on the requirements.
UPDATE!!!

Super build, looking forward to see the maiden video. These mini quads are prone to crashes, considering the way they are mostly flown. How do you think the frame will hold up.
I had two successful flight tests. Then I overcorrected and crashed breaking two booms.

The motors have been a constant source of grief... With bad bearings... Will have to replace them soon.
I have been using the RCX motors on my mini quad for nearly a year, without any issues. I have broken an embarrassing number of props, destroyed a IRC 600mw tx, and even dunked it into a lake trying to do a flip. So far I have had to change only 1 motor, because the magnets became loose.
Try them as a cheap solution.

Hmm nice.. I am out of funds as of now. Will buy those as soon as I have funds :D
Vibrant hobbies has been kind enough to raise the issue with HK lets see how HK responds :)
Update: HK has accepted one motor is faulty, and Vibrant Hobbies has gone ahead and given me the refund for one motor :hatsoff:
I have changed the boom design slightly, by removing the sharp V on the booms because they were fragile. Replaced it with a flat bottom design. :hatsoff:
The MDF has proven to be strong enough for this design as well.
