Hey, i'm Jakob from Germany and i'm planning a new Hexacopter.
But i'm not sure about the configuration.
Here's my preliminary setup:

Motor: T-Motor GF-MN4014-9 400KV

ESC: 60A-OPTO-SimonK-Maytech

Props : Cfk 14x7

Battery: 6s 16000mah from SLS

Remote control: Futaba T-14SG-R7008SB

Flight controler: DJI A2 +DJI Groundstation

Video: DJI Lightbridge

Gimbal DYS Gopro with 3 achses

Can anyone give me hints how i can improve the setup, especially the flight time?
In Germany we are only allowed to fly with copters with weight less than 5 kg.
Thanks, Jakob

hi,

heres my setup frame is ST800

motors are tarot 350kv with 15x5 props

Amperage rating on the ESC seems quite higher than required. 40Amp would be more than enough for your motor.
While using either 40A or 60A won't have any effect on the flight characteristics, using a 40A will certainly give you some weight advantage since you will be using 6 of those.
So even 20gm weight saved per ESC will translate to a total 120gm saved which will increase the flight time to some extent.

BTW, what is the C rating on your LiPo?
Get a low C Rated LiPo like 20C or even 15 C as at 16000mah, it's will provide more than enough amperage for your setup.
Since lower C rated liPo are slightly lighter in weight, you will get higher flight time.

BTW, If you still have weight left from the 5KG mark, an another way would be to get a 20000mah pack with 10C rating which will drastically increase the flight time due to lesser weight from the lower C Rating.

Hy,
thanks for the quick replies.
The Lipo has 20C and a weight of 1946g.  I can 't finden  an lipo with a lower C rating. Can you give an example?
And @sabajare how's your flighttime?

Finding low C Rated LiPo's are a bit hard at the moment.
HobbyKing have launched few Multistar rage of LiPos with 10C ratings. Unfortunately there is no 6s released but but those are expected to be released shortly.

Check this video about the advantage of low C Rated LiPo's on the Flight Time on multirotors:

The best bet for now would be to either get multiple LiPo packs (To get higher Flight Times with breaks in between) or to experiment with a larger capacity LiPo pack while staying as low on C rating (and most importantly) the weight of the LiPo Pack.
Like 20000mah 20C, etc

BTW, what kind of flight time are you looking for?
If flight time is the main concern then a tri or even a quad is a better option. You can design these as 6S setup to get more which will be more efficient than the regular 3S setups in consuming battery power.
But if the payload is high (like if you need to carry a heavy camera, etc) and you need better stability with them, then nothing provides better stability to flight time ratio that a hexacopter.

More motors = more fuel consumption but more stability as well for heavier payloads.

We want to do mainly fpv flights, But also be able to  mount a SLR camera. So we want at least a hexa because of safety and also because of the stability.  The aim was to reach at least 15 min of flighttime without payload.  You think this is possible with this setup?

Hey Guys, Jakob's dad is currently in India, I wanted to know if anybody could give me or him the price list of most if not all this equipment in Indian rupees, such that he can buy them if they are cheaper here as opposed to Germany. His dad had requested me to give him advice but i referred him here seeing as the experts are on the platform.

by the way Jakob, Ja, ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch
thanks for coming onto the platform, and welcome to RC India.

forever indebted to this community. :-) currently in Namibia, let me know if you guys want to come over!
