Guys, I have started to build my quadcopter.
Below are the parts bought so far:
KK 2.1.5 controller - eBay.in
Alien 500 frame - aliexpress.com
Flysky Radio receiver/transmitter - amazon.in

Please feel free to contact me if you have any parts to sell or suggestions.
I will update the post as I progress.
Thanks.

Edit: I bought this parts before I knew this group existed. Also anyone from Hyderabad know where I can buy the parts locally. I normally go to Gujarati gali in Koti to get some parts.

Good luck with your build

Have you decided on motors ?
RC Hobbyist and an Aerial Cinematographer..

jsquadman

Thanks and No, not yet @sooraj. Any suggestions welcome.
Need motors that will eventually lift a small video camera:)

ashimda

Go for the sunny sky 980 or 900kv. Very good and we'll priced motors and available locally at quadkopters.in or RCMUMBAI.

Thanks @ashimda, added it my list.
Is www.quadkopters.com same as quadkopters.in?

These motors http://www.quadkopters.com/product/brushless-motors/sunnysky-angel-2212-980kv-brushless-motor/

sooraj.palakkad

Instead of Sunnysky Angel motors, I would suggest to go for these, if you have the enough budget : http://www.quadkopters.com/product/brushless-motors/sunnysky-2216-11-900kv/   or this : http://www.quadkopters.com/product/brushless-motors/sunnysky-2212-980kv/

I think Ashimda sir also mentioned these motors .

If you are low on budget, then you can opt this : http://www.quadkopters.com/product/brushless-motors/221213-1000kv-brushless-outrunner-motor-with-mount/ - this motors provide enough lift for an AUW up to 1.6Kg .

P.S : All these motors are way llot cheaper if you buy outside India !

jsquadman

@sooraj Thanks. OK I will go with 2212-980kv. Any idea what is different from 2216 and 2212?
Regarding buying outside, you mean online or physically?
Edit: I saw the difference from the site.

jsquadman

Just saw this in eBay, any comments on this

sooraj.palakkad

Sunnysky 2216 motor gives more lift and can handle up to 12 " props and is more efficient too , while with a 2212 you can only go with 10" or 11" props.

By, 'buying out side' - I meant online. (ebay, aliexpress , banggood ....)
Check this for eg : http://www.banggood.com/XXD-2212-750KV-Outrunner-Brushless-Motor-for-RC-Quadcopters-p-961973.html

Good combo - but 4 of such pairs will cost a heck , for that money, I can build a whole quad !!

Planning to buy the below battery and charger
1. 3s 2200mAh 70C Wild Scorpion Nanotech lipo battery (http://rcmumbai.com/index.php/product/3s-2200mah-70c-wild-scorpion-nanotech-lipo-battery/)
2. Imax B6 (http://rcmumbai.com/index.php/product/imax-b6-copy/)

Appreciate your comments or any other combination of battery and charger recommended?

Are the selected charger and battery  compatible?

ashimda

There is no need for such a high C rating battery. 20-30C in enough. Spend 400/- bucks more and get the http://rcmumbai.com/index.php/product/3s-4200mah-30c-wild-scorpion-nanotech-lipo-battery/ longer flight times and enough punch for your setup.

jsquadman

@ashimda thank you sir for your feedback. I will go with your recommendation

jsquadman

Here is the motors I am planning to buy from banggood

ashimda

Honestly speaking, You Get What You Pay For. You are spending approx 4200/- on Motors and ESC's where as 4 good quality motors cost about 4000/- alone. Any good quality 750kv motor would cost 4x as much as the BangGood ones. But there's a reason for that. Well balanced with quality bearings and the option to go 4S are just a few.
If you haven't yet purchased them, I would have a rethink.

No Sir, I havent purchased them. I have put them in cart to get feedback from the veterans here. Definitely, I dont want low quality, at the same time it I dont want to spend a fortune on it. Any mid quality motors will do for now, as this is my first quad and more of a learning experience.

jsquadman

Any feedback on this 4in1 ESC ?

Updated parts going to buy based on valuable feedback  :salute:
Not sure if I should go with 4in1 ESC or individual  :headscratch:

currently using emax 2216 810kv motors.. good motors. very less vibrations , you can use props between 9'' to 12'' ( they are available in both thread cw and ccw for self locking props.)
http://www.rcdhamaka.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=100_93&products_id=1470
(these motors provide enough thrust to lift my quad at almost 60-70% throttle weight around 1.3kg with 3s battery and 9443 self locking props)
i also try my hands on 2212 motors but 2216 gives better performance as compared to 2212 ( also these can handle more weight than 2212 for future upgrade)
goodluck

gunnu

go for these ESC http://www.quadkopters.com/product/esc-ubec/simonk-esc-20a/ (4 individual ESC)
instead of buying 4 in 1 ESC..

Thanks @gunnu.
Was looking for 30A as I am not sure about the motor capacity. How about this http://www.quadkopters.com/product/esc-ubec/simonk-esc-30a/ ?

gunnu

hmmm i am using this ESC but currently out of stock.. emax simonk 30A esc are also good.. check this link
http://rcmumbai.com/index.php/product/simonk-30a-esc/

OK, noted and changed to separate ESC.
