Built a 250 mini quad today. the build actually started yesterday, and i decided to post the build log as my first entry for this year's sweep stakes.

First of all the parts I used :

1) LDPower 2204 2300Kv motors
2) Emax SimonK 12A ESCs
3) CC3D Atom Flight controller
4) Diaton 250 frame (Baught from Akshay (Royalakshay) recently)

Apart from the frame, all other items where lying around for a while so I got this frame from Akshay (It was quite a good deal !) . At first look the frame felt too flexible, but once its built, its rigid, its a very nice frame weighing only 85Gms.

So in to the build .... I will be using past tense from here on ! because its already built and completed ... I am not a kind who does something post it and then get back do the remaining  ;D

Started the work at yesterday evening .

When I got the frame, I felt that its too light and flexible, so to confirm its quality before building it, I assembled the frame alone. Surprisingly it was too strong once all the parts are put together ! Its a very good frame at 85gms only.

Now the frame is checked to be sturdy and is okay, I started soldering the ESCs and motors. I dont use bullect connectors direct soldering preferred. usually I solder middle wire of all ESC and Motor together, After that for 2 motor ESC pairs , solders first wire of motor to first of ESC and third to third vice-versa for other two motor ESC pair  - after all this is done and heat shrinked, takes one from each set to check rotation direction and mount on frame accordingly this method saves lot of time ! ;D

But in this build, my motors came with CW and CCW threaded shafts, so I have to make sure, CW threaded motors need to be wired to rotate in CCW direction and vice versa - so blind soldering of wires is not possible. hence I soldered the middle wires together as usual, and found combination for CW rotation and soldered like that on two CCW threaded motors, wired the other two motors in opposite way. To make sure everything is perfect, did a test run for each motor before soldering points are heat shrinked.

Now in to mounting the motors on arms.
The arms are 2.5mm CF and is too strong It also has mounting support for almost all kind of motor available in this category.

Motors mounted on the arms and ESCs ziptied.

Now in to making a Power distribution

Used two wires of 18AWG as main power rails . and power to ESCs taped from the main rails at various points. pictures are self explanatory !

Heat shrinked all the solder points and soldered a XT60 at the end of power rails

Mounted the CC3D Mini, Rooted the signal cables and connected it to cc3d.

ohhh .. thanks..  but why didnt you use pdb in this quad  ??  is it safe to do soo ??

Its only that I don't have a dedicated board for power distribution . I was in a hurry with this build , as making a pdb is time consuming , I decided to go with a wiring like this , and I don't find any reasons for this to be unsafe , all you have to check is the used wire is of enough gauge to withstand  the max. Possible current draw by all four motors combined.
More over its always safe to have less no. of connectors around , connectors are weak points in my view , so I prefer solid soldered contacts over connectors.

How is the kit from quadkopters.com? It is available for 7500
It looks like a nice one but people are having some problems

Just one guy out of 15 sold so far. and only 3 left in stock.

I still gave him replacement of the motors. He was expecting original motors are less cost which was not possible.

anyhow you really cannot have every customer happy, but i always try that everyone who buys from QK is happy with their purchase.
one stop for multirotor needs:

Sorry for the delay in posting the updates ...
Though the build was completed at least one week back, I couldn't post it here ..

So here it goes ;

Test flight was done with a 4.5Ah nanotech 3S  >:D ... It was quite a load for the mini quad but the motors had no any problems, they lift off coolly at 40% throttle.
Will get this in to air with a small battery, as soon as get a new one.
Flight video after that  ;D
