Been flying this around for a couple of months now
as a trainer to CP helis.
The arms are from an old TV antenna and the centre
plates are ply. the body shell is from an RC car.
How does it look ?
Look good! Could you pls post a close up pic of the servo mechanism used?
one heck of a Yaw mechanism!! pretty bird, good luck!
Nice Saikat. {:)} {:)}
What is the control board?
The control board is an i86 - my main aim was to train for helis and replicate the
handling characteristics of a collective pitch
6 channel heli - so I could learn to hover
without the crashing/repair cycle of a normal heli
Beats practising on a sim any day.
Close up of the yaw -
Superb Boss! Any videos?
wow Ultimate Yaw mechanism!!
The best part in your Yaw mechanism is that there are very less chances of breaking servo gear.
In my Tri what i did is directly connected Servo to motor mount. so in any crash all impact is pass to servo gear.
In your case it will be passed to the round disk and screw holding it.
In Result i broke 2 Hitec MG servo costing me 46$.
Your Yaw mechanism is 10 times better in my view.
Can you please post the build log + parts list for Yaw mechanism?
Thank you,
Atul
:hatsoff:great man,superb keep it up {:)}
Just FYI how my Yaw Mechanism looks like.
Great yaw mechanism :)

:iagree:
If someone could let me know how to post a
video - I'll post some action clips of the tricopter
upload the video to Youtube then post the youtube link of the video here...just that simple...
Saikat sir,
1. upload it to youtube, upload manager -> drag n drop.
2. Browse to the video within youtube once uploaded (you will be given a link by youtube)
3. Copy Paste the link (that is now in the address bar) as is in your post.
Sometimes if you copy the link directly on the upload manager page, it does not get embedded; so step 2 helps
Thanks guys -will do
change the name of this thread to "tricopter yaw mech=awesome" ;D

Above is the youtube link - a short clip of the tricop flying.
ingore the short baldy guy
Sexy Rony! Wish I could describe it better. I have some memories of that lawn. Btw, was that Madam's voice at the start?
Tea is good, Tea gardens are better, your T copters is great.
Why did you include him in the first place? Bawldy, i presume.
VC, don't laugh, but i have putt a stop to all 3 leaks.
What I Rony (sometimes can't resist the lowest form of humour)
I am building a Hexa at the moment, would you care to elaborate on the components that you have used? Any Gyros ? How many Gyro's- or does the board take care of all that? The reason why I am asking is I will have enough components left over to build a Tri (a flying Scorpion) after finishing the Hexa and I would love to follow your footsteps.
"The pun is the lowest form of humour" Samuel Johnson. This takes me back to school and Julius Caesar and 1980. I guess it is totally lost on the younglings..............
Saikat, pl tell VC,
Neither leaks nor wi(c)k(i)s allow the putputs to putt.
Must be a hole in one.
NO MORE pun(t)s, I PROMISE.
??? :headscratch: :banghead:
No humour is better than forced humour. A pun can't be 'en'farced'. It has to be timed to perfection. I hope I don't tickle your Ire. Que Que Sera after all.............
If it is mistimed, the French have a lovely term for it - L'esprit de l'escalier. :hatsoff:
That aside, Rony care to answer my queries? How is a T Copter different from a Y Copter?

Hello Guys
I finished making my tricopter last week. Here is a small video of the first flight. Great thanks to Aniket for helping me out.

Cool! {:)}
You should try your first flights far away from kids though. That little girl was scared at one point!
Yeah...they kept returning though no matter how hard i tried :/
I stopped flying because of that... I fly only in the mornings now....
Good flight,

Its same with me, i used to fly either early morning or afternoon. But its very dangerous to fly with kids around
Exactly. I have been facing this for a long time.
go to a beach... its the best place to fly! I love to fly on the beaches. A lot of place and no trees to create a problem
Yes Prateek. Even I was planning to do the same.
the beach has a more "adult" crowd.. prateek remember? :P
other problem is the sand on the beach.. you would never want the sand to get into the motor... :headscratch:
Yes you can say that.
