I built my Apm 2.TRICOPTER, did some test flight at low altitude, everything seems fine.
One day i was testing it inside my house and accidently I pressed RTl switch which ended in a crash.
Since then my copter is not lifting off the ground even at full throttle.
I reflashed it, redid the calibrations. Still it barely hovers.
My THR_MAX is at 1000.
Help Needed.

Did you recheck your hardware? Check the shafts of the motors. Doesn't seem to be an APM issue.
P.S Always test flight outdoors and happy flying :)

theObnoxious

Yeah, i thought so but the motors are the same amd nothing had gone with any of the hardware.
Anything else that you think, which might be causing trouble.

cyberhack

how bad was the crash did u rewire the motor and esc may be u had put wrong rotation prop to the rotation of motor recheck the cw and ccw motor and the props u put on them ,hovering issue also can be due to modes u r flying in takeoff in stablize mode and try after checking motor and props

theObnoxious

My motors have survived worst crashes, i don't think a 3 ft. Crash would cause any problem.
Plus the props are perfectly fine. I tested it and flew it for some time at 3 ft. hover that is.
But since the crash its barely hovering at full throttle. I rechecked almost everything.

cyberhack

Hope u have checked everythng after the crash also I dnt thnk a 3ft crash at home should affect the Tricopter this much that it doesn't hover probably wrng props or wrong flight modes can do this error will suggest do it from the start again even for the APM firmware flash setup and calibration hope this helps otherwise check with kk board or any other fc is APM is a prb which should nt be in ur case

theObnoxious

Was thinking to test it with my CC3D. Hope all goes well and apm doesn't turn out to be defective !
Its a brand new apm board. I'll be doomed if this board goes faulty.

kiran rc

It may not be the controller issue. :)
Try factory reset on apm and recalibrate everything
Try taking off from a high raised platform/ground.
P.S Did you try testing it outside? The acclerometers may not respond when they are quite close to the ground.(may be even after a crash). Try flying outdoors.

theObnoxious

Yeah, tried flying outside but still it didn't fly above .5ft.
I even hand launched it but still it went downwards as the thrust was not enough.

cyberhack

pls post the config of ur copter motor kv prop u r using and esc also the lipo

theObnoxious

980Kv
10.45 props
25A Simonk Emax ESC
3S 2200mah Gen Ace Lipo

kiran rc

Which tx are you using?
Do the speed of the motor decrease with time on full throttle?
Can you post a small  video of it?

kiran rc

Just make sure the angle of the motors on the frame is right.

if you think everything is fine and same as before then there is a chance that lipo might went out of juice during crash. one of the cell might got dead and since tri is flying on 2S now you might not able to get proper thrust. have you checked your lipo?

theObnoxious

Yeah, its fine.
But today i was testing it with my CC3D, and suddenly my receiver was not responding. Its dead. Idk but for some reason
its not glowing the red led. Its FS R9B.
First apm and now this receiver ! Uurg.
I guess the receiver might have got faulty and was not sending correct pwm values.
Gotta order a new one now. Duh !

Yeah, the led is not blinking..
Its not glowing at all.. seems dead i suppose.

May be the esc connected to apm (the one connected for BEC) is not working. Try plugging in one of the other esc. Does your apm switch on when you plug the battery? Or is it that only the rx is not responding?

theObnoxious

Using CC3D for the moment and just the rx doesn't light up.
The FC does light up boots ss usual.
And i use a separate power module for the apm. I don't use the built in BEC of ESC for the apm.
Rather i use bec for CC3D.

I would suggest changing servo cables of rx to apm. I had a similar problem and after changing cables everything was fine.
Calibrate esc with all at once method.
Check prop rotation.

theObnoxious

The servo cables to apm seem fine, but if you suggest, i would give it a try.
