Claimed to be better than FMS. Not sure how well cooked it is though !

I feel like switching back from RC to computer gaming(non sim), this RC stuff is a huge expensive(time/money) MESS! and the fun comes only on Sundays. I pity myself for falling into this RC Cancer, which has become incurable :violent:

Now I need to spend on car, which was not required for me in the first place, I need to buy nitro planes, I need to buy that nitro field kit, etc etc. All expensive stuff.

In an LHS expensive place like INDIA(obviously due to import charges/Duty etc.), earning in Rupees and spending in More-Than DOLLARS$$$ is not for the ordinary like me I guess. :banghead:

Downloaded and tried it. Looked like FMS with Photo background. Physics was more hopeless than FMS. Rudder stick was not detecting. The models had the worst resolution, they were all pixalated and edges were jagged. Probably forced Anti-aliasing in the display drivers may solve the graphics problems. But nobody can save the physics problems.
Lots of planes to fly, can run on low end systems.

Thought why bother when there is RF :sleepy:

RealFlight, done right, costs big bucks ;)

People are sticking to electric more than ever now.  I know multiple nitro flyers here (all guys with lots of money to spare) who have completely gone electric, for the convenience (even on big planes/helis). So there is no reason why you "should" get into nitro.

Your problem is that you are not setting progressive targets ;)  For example, one such goal would be to build a 60 to 70inch wingspam foam plane, and THEN be able to do rolling circles using it ! First you will spend all your spare time (weekend or not) trying to build it.  Then you will spend all the week trying to master the rolling circle in the sim, and wait for Sunday impatiently to try the maneuver in the field.  In short, RC can be as fun and involved (yet cost effective) as you want it to be !

In short, can a big foam plane give as much fun as a nitro? :headscratch: Many say its not possible.

Well I agree RF is expensive, but we stay in India right? ;D ;)

anwar

It does not necessarily have to be foam.  Lots of people do electric conversions on planes that are designed for nitro engines.

Most importantly, what is "fun" ? That is a highly subjective matter :)

My idea of fun with an airplane is something like this 5 year old is doing ;)

Of course, if your idea of fun is a a big scale model that has an engine sound, then obviously that is just another type of "fun", which could turn expensive.

In short, be aware that "fun" is what you want it to be !  And beware of the "many", who should first be trying to achieve an elevated level of skill in some aspect of RC (like building or flying), rather than touting the glamor of their possessions :)

And while on subject of free simulators, I came across one for MS Flight Sim folks, but this one is completely free, with full source code !

I Betcha!! This is the same guy who used to swear by Sir Thomas Alva Edison that he would remain EP his whole life!! Good to have best of all world!

And yes not hijacking the topic, I feel Realflight, Reflex XTR and Aerofly are one of the best in the market, though not free. What heck in spending lack in R/C equipment and not some 5-8K on decent SIM? FMS is the next best thing which is FREE... but frankly it looks Jurassic in Video/Physics when compared to the commercial brethren.

People who hate Helis, still buy them ;). Good to have best of all world!

Another important and often overlooked factor is that the bigger the aircraft, the easier it is in general to fly. Hovering a 50" foamie is tougher than hovering a 50cc gasser.  The thing that gets complicated with bigger size is deep pockets, and flying bigger ones hardly translates to better flying skill.

In short, there is a lot to be had in foamie land itself ! Don't let others tell you otherwise, and cause you to spend more than you intended.

This doesn't look like an RC Sim.

anwar

Exactly.  That is why the reference to "MS Flight Sim", which is also not an RC sim.

Hellyflyer

Do we have a dedicated topic on Flight sim's where all of them are listed? :headscratch:
Helis and Quads ROCK !!

KALYANPRODHAN

I am using a Rs200 priced analog joypad and FMS as I have no separate high end graphics card.
Intel ATOM D410
1GB DDR2 800MHz
1TB HDD

Upgrading ram to 2 GB very rescent.
We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.

vinay

You can run any sim with that. But its a bad thing to get used to it. I know, coz I started that way. BTW those joystiks have spring loaded gimbals on both the sticks. You wont get a spring free throttle, unless you are free to do some operation on it.  ;)

Swapnil

Say, we remove the throttle spring, would it work better?

vinay

It may, but I dont know how the construction is inside, coz on the throttle a lil tracktion is desirable. But you can surely learn orientation with it.

BTW instead of spending 400 on a joystick, you can spend a 1000 and get a good sim controller from dealextreme or from LHS(lil more expensive though.)
