Title: Being Charged 12k at customs for a 16k Transmitter
Post by: brendendas on November 26, 2015, 09:35:16 PM
Hello everyone,

I found a relatively good deal online (Aliexpress) for a Taranis X9D+  and decided to order it asap.
I chose EMS and enroute it got held at customs, which is expected. I am now being charged 12K for it via customs. Is this normal? I am taken aback as this is an enormous amount and I was not notified that I would need to pay an amount this large in advance.

If there's anyone who can help me out with lowering the amounts please send me a DM.

Thanks

Hi, they quote a high amount so that you resort to paying bribe. Throw some money on their faces and watch them dance. Ask for without recipt. Don't pay more than 2-3k. Cheers.
And never use ems.

EMS said that I could pay them 8k 'without documents' and have the transmitter in no time. The thing is why should I pay so much? Is there any way in which I can legally find out how much I'm entitled to pay?

Also the EMS representatives have changed their words multiple times when asked why. The first time I asked her as to why I'm being charged so much I was told that it was due to incorrect documentation, now the reason given is that it is standard protocol and I'm being charged a fair amount. Jesus christ!!!!!

Pay 8k and finish it off, trust me I paid around 11k after falling into deep sh*t.

That's their tactics bro. Legally you are supposed to pay some 42% (including cess vat and what not). When it comes to talking about customs I can go on. They try to scare you first by qouting absurd amounts. Then they tell you an equally absurd without doc amount, thats when you start bargaining. Do you have any tope contacts? Give their reference.
