Original 2.4 G systems look attractive for a starter but set you back  heavily as far as receivers are concerned later.

Then why are your original futaba PCM receivers so expensive http://cgi.ebay.in/Futaba-R-146iP-6-Channel-72MHz-Receiver_W0QQitemZ150310314858QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_203?hash=item22ff31636a&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|293:1|294:30

and please now do not refer to chinese receivers as we are not comparing chinese radios. Even the 2.4ghz receivers are also priced similarly read it on another post/thread.

Katty ,
At no point  am I saying that original futaba receivers of any type are cheap. There are those who buy only originals and those who buy anything that works.

All I am saying is that it is a reality that there are options other than originals in the case of Mhz receivers .
But in the case of 2.4 G the only option for the user is the original receiver even if you go in for Chinese Brand Modules you are stuck with only using that specific Brand receiver  your options are limited  .

These are facts .

I personally prefer keeping my options and accept that many may not look at things in the same way , I don't have a problem with that .

Hi there..

What Mr. Saju and Mr. Sai says is true.. The 6EX is more than enough for anything that you might want to fly in the next couple of years atleast!! Yes.. even giant scale can be fitted on this span if you decide to get one!! Going the PCM way or the 2.4 way is totally another discussion and its upto you to decide!!  But the 6EX is a radio I can put my money on if you are getting a non 2.4 radio!! I think you might land up with a whole package including servos for about 13 to 14 grand!

And practically speaking, I seldom see people in my field using original Futaba Rxs unless it comes with their radio!! Everyone are using Corona and other cheap Rxs which definitely serve the purpose and does more!! In fact I personally have seen the Coronas having higher range than the Futaba Rxs  :)!!

There are loads of options out there.. But as Mr. Sai pointed out, dont get anything in the unusual frequencies!! Rxs are difficult to source in India and you might have to end up buying original stuff which is as expensive as 2.4 Rxs :)!!

Anyways.. All the best!

So, to revive an old thread, after reading thru a lot threads, for a newbie like me, which would you guys recommend?

Futaba 6ch, Spektrum 6ch or the Airtronics 8ch with 4 servos which is at least available at RCDhamaka? Can't seem to find the Futaba/Spektrum available anywhere either.

Budget is not really a constraint, but would like to get something that I can use for a long while without a need to upgrade.

Which one will I be able to use connected to a compuer as a simulator?

Lastly, any simulator softwares for a Mac? Don't know where to post this.

airtronics/sanwa is a good bet, saw one on sale from MP i guess
Gusty's Hangar and Introduction.

A Good pilot will practice until he gets it right,
A Great pilot will practice until he can't get it wrong.

Don't think I will use 8 channel, and for the price of the 8 channel Sanwa, I can get a 6ch Spektrum. Which would you suggest then?

TOTAL newbie here so please take that into consideration.

What about the Hitec Optic 6? That seems available at RC for All.

@deepakvrao

I found Futaba 6ch and spectrum Dx6i here: http://www.beyondtoyz.in/Radio-Electronics/Radios.html . They're in stock

I had bought some Balss sheets from BeyondToyz (Mr. Chintan Modi) a few months ago, and the service was good.

Hi!
I'm new to this forum, but not so new to RC - I started in 1964! I used to only use Futaba gear but now I have 2 very cheap Chinese 2.4Ghz FlySky systems, a CT6B (6 channel) and a 9X (8 channel) both of which are programmable. I have flown these systems FPV to a range of 1 Km without any glitches using 5.8Ghz for the video. I have a flying buddy who has made a similar transition, he has fitted his Turnigy badged 9X with a Fr Sky 2.4 Ghz module and antenna which gives him a reliable range of between 4 to 6 kMs.
Standard 9X 2.4Ghz receivers cost about 1000 R/s, so it doesn't break the bank to have several receivers, fitted in different models.
I have heard from several sources that the Spectrum gear is prone to interference problems, but I have no personal experience of using that equipment.
My current models are an HK 250 heli, a trex 450 Pro FPV heli, a Bixler / sky surfer Fpv plane and a HK long range FPV plane (a Fibreglass Skywalker).

A range of a radio is depend on the power out put of it and i think this also differs big brand radio with others , so can we measure power out put of radio , if yes then how?
