Wonderful news Sandy sir. Finally! I've always been wondering why haven't they released a transmitter as yet. Great news for newbies and experienced flyers alike

pravesh, I'd say there have been others such as www.os-rc.com

It wouldn't qualify as a true open source unless they also publish the hardware designs. This looks something similar to what 9xr has done. hardware design is confidential and firmware is open source

In 9xr(I'm using one) hk just slapped er9x. Taranis software has been developed/modded in collaboration with the open source developers. The taranis radio case is a old jr copy . Sadly osrc(awesome system) coldnt get/find any manufacturers so it has to 3dprint it's hardware which is not yet on sale I think.

Actually this has been in market for sometime and I have an eye on this.. afraid about the custom hassles....

Agreed, but that still doesn't make it open source unless they bring the hardware designs to the public domain. os-rc would've made it big with their modular design and wifi connected radios, but got fragged early.

Yes agreed not completely open source, the hardware has been there for sometime, Same as KDS radio maybe.

girishsarwal

Oh cool, I didn't know that, schematics for this Frsky system? I dont know about the KDS radios, are they based on the Atmegas as well

I don't know KDS radios either but the taranis thread in rcgroups said that they might be sharing hardware and casing or only casing.
