hi,

I had a non-functional futaba 4exa lying idle. ordered a assan 2.4 hack module.

Installed the module and got a 2.4 ghz radio working.

very easy to do, plan to get all my old radios to 2.4 now.

Sir,How do you keep your radios so well. The radio in picture looks as if it is just out of box  :salute: My radios look as if they are ten years old within just a couple of  weeks of taking them out of their box.

hi,

as said earlier, this radio has not seen the field very much. it used to glitch and hence was kept away in a cupboard away from dust.

recently i came across the hack module conversion on rcgroups and ordered the assan module from HK.

got radio back working. will testfly it on sunday.

Wow, looks like it's regularly wax-polished or something!

hi,

as stated earlier, this radio was having glitch problems on 72mhz. hence it could not be used.

also sending it back to the states for repair was too costly.

hence i took the decision of removing the rf board and make it permanent on 2.4ghz.

have already seen the dual band modifications but in this case was of no use.

Sandeep bhai - Guess you tried to find a root cause for the glitch in72Mhz... like trying different receivers, re-routing wires away from the power system, trying with a different RX battery etc ?

hi,

before trying to convert to 2.4, i did try to look into the problem. earlier we had a serious crash on this radio. we thought the culprit was the rx. but the new rx too was giving same problem. so we tried the old and new rx on another radio and it was working fine. hence we kept the radio away.

recently while browsing, came across the conversion on rcgroups and hence decided to give it a try.

Before the final conversion i gave it one more try and this time found that the rf was not at all transmitting. hence i went on with conversion and both me and my friend decided to make it permanent on 2.4.

we have more 72mhz fliers and have crashed models due to mistakenly swithching on radios on the same freq.

Have to still try out the range tests and but heavy winds are causing more problems.

The only problem with the conversion is the old rx's are lying idle.

I know atleast one person who has lost two models here...lightning cannot strike the same place twice so the saying goes.... :hatsoff:

hi,

Learnt from mistakes and hence converted to 2.4ghz.

No question of lightning here  :headscratch: ???.

We are humans and learn only after making mistakes. the entire life is about learning.

The forum is about learning and there is no place for sayings. they only good to hear
