If he is bringing it by flight, he should carry it unpacked with the purchase invoice.

The customs might ask to pay some duty and leave if lucky.

Else they will detain the Tx and ask for IEC and NOC and all that crap.

What Futaba radio is your friend planning to carry?

If you want a Futaba 6EX 6ch Tx, I can provide one.

Its brand new.

I can get you the Futaba 6J for Rs. 17,000 + shipping as applicable.

6EX is also a 2.4 GHz and is approx Rs. 500 cheaper. (http://www.futaba-rc.com/systems/futk6900.html)

The best part is that 6EX uses the FASST technology where as the 6J uses the S-FHSS technology.

Both are 2.4 Ghz tough.

You can read about both the technologies here:

FASST: http://www.futaba-rc.com/technology/fasst.html

FHSS: http://www.futaba-rc.com/technology/fhss.html

Also for your information, the major difference between FASST and FHSS:

FHSS: is a simple frequency hopping system, will not scan the band at boot and no error checking capabilities.

FASST: Hybrid FH/DSSS channel shifting system, it will scan the band at boot and has error checking and correction capabilities. FASST is what Futaba uses in commercial systems. Also has dual antenna for better connectivity.

FHSS and S-FHSS system is not compatible with FASST system hich means you cannot use the FHSS transmitters with FASST receivers.

Let me know.

Again no problem at all.. I can give another 10-15 example of ppl who carried radios from Us, uk,singapore, malaysia. ..Just ask ur friend to remove the transmitter battery. .. There is no certification required as such... Please go ahead n order which ever radio u like... So dont get carried away with bull.. talks...  I donno why ppl want to make this hobby soo complicated.. Its pretty simple thing...

Hello All

If you are planning to buy the Futaba 6EX radio from Singapore, please reconsider as this radio is available at almost same price in our country.
The price of 6EX in Singapore is S$ 267.00 (as on 02/05/2012) The link is below.
http://shop.singahobby.com/?q=node/12736
The above mentioned radio includes T6EX-2.4GHz transmitter, R617FS-2.4GHz receiver, TX Ni-Cd and TX charger.
So you do not get RX Battery (S$25.40), Switch harness (S$ 14.80), aileron extension (S$ 6.40) and neck strap (S$ 17.80).

Same radio is available with us for Rs. 14900/- Below is the link..
http://spherehobbies.com/india/radio-control/115-futaba-india-6ex-24ghz-air-r617fs-4-s3004.html
At Sphere Hobbies this radio includes following.
1. Futaba 6EX Transmitter
2. NT8F600B 9.6V 600mAh Transmitter Battery, FUTM1440
3, FBC-19B(4) 120V AC Battery Charger, FUTM1830
4. R617FS Receiver, FUTL7627
5. Receiver Battery: NR-4J 600mAh, FUTM1280
6. Switch Harness-J Style Connector SWH13  FUTM4370
7. Neck Strap. FUTM5690

So if you buy it from Singapore, you will save Rs. 100 - 200 which is more then cab charges to go to Sigapore Hobby Store.

Let us know what you all think. Do let us know if this is a reasonable comparison. Keep in mind that we (all LHS) pay as high as 30% (aprox) of base price, as custom duty.

Please do know that if you all provide support to LHS we (all LHS) will beat all foreign countries in price comparison. Cause Indian businessman knows business and means business. What we (all LHS) are looking for is support of Indians (my fellow country men/women). If we think rationally, any single eastern country is smaller (geographically, population, number of flyer, number of flying field etc.) then us. We should and must be able to offer them better prices. We do not see this future very far.

Happy landings. Best regards,

shadman_alam : Thanks for gr8 Information  :)
Spherehobby : Your price are really so near, and almost same or better
Flying Truck : Thanks but still J6 is still not available  :(

But Now we have dropped plan to bring this radio from Singapore because
1. We dont want this radio now  8-), because we are not that much expert   ;D and already having Turnigy 9x
2. Why we bring it from there  :headscratch: if we are getting it in india without any problem  :giggle:.

Yes, I always believe that indians are business man and can provide any thing cheaper then other country........but some time we become greedy  (:|~ and offer unexpected..... ;)

Thanks

Thats your choice.. But 6ex is not an advanced radio. . N u dont have to feel axpert kinda thing to use it.. Its a basic radio set.. N u can never rely on turnigy for long time.. U ll probably realise it very soon... Radios are like investment..   Sphere hobbies rates are really great thats true... Instead of spending on many cheap radios.. Pick up a good one hitec aurora 9 or futaba 7c or higher.. I learnt the hardway.. Hehe.. Intially had a cheap 6ch hobbyking radio..  Then spektrum 6xi n finally futaba... I think i wud have bought a 12fg or better with all the money i spent on radios.. So decide wisely...

Search here for threads on why it is almost always a good idea to jump from 6 to 7 channels, if you are looking for a long term radio/investment.  The 7 channel (and higher) radios from most of the known brands have much more functionality that you will use on a daily basis (not just functionality that are seldom used).

strongly agree on sphere hobbies quote!!!!! why buying it from other country?? when u get it in india!!!!... people like sphere hobbies, rc-bazaar, rc-dhamaka, jubilee hobbies, rc-bharath, aeroworks, rc-hobby addict and many LHS struggle so hard to get the materials for you new fellow flyer and veterans and make it easily available, then why go for shipping it from other countries?? :banghead:

If we all get together and make "INDIA A RC HUB" as we all know we have the potential to do it.... this would really make our country proud and people in it!!! :salute: :salute:

we are no less in any field....you name it we have it... !!!!if you need any thing please ask any LHS !!! i m sure this would really help everyone of them.

and i am sure any LHS is not greedy!!! there are just having their feasible margins on what ever they provide us and they have to be...hats off to all the LHS people  :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

I m sure in coming years there will be "Exporting" shipment from india on RC products to other countries if we all work together!!!!

Thanks to rc-india we all are in here together to point out our own views.. :hatsoff: :hatsoff:

It is very very rare that radios are stopped in air customs, especially if they are the only RC item.

The reason is that radios show up routinely in Xray checks of checked-in baggage at airports due to the invasion of cheap helis, which are popular gifts/toys.

If the bags are forced open for other reasons AND if the officials happen to notice a "less than simple" radio, then they  may ask questions.  Even then, the initial assumption is that they are "toy controllers".

The IEC code number is for commercial importers and is NOT required for any personal imports. And, in any case, personal baggage is exactly that. None of this is therefore applicable.

Sushil bhai - It does not seem like the documentation asked by officialdom is not really "by the book".  Unless the respondent is aware of the law, pretty much anything is part of the game.  Ground realities ! :)

Mine carried through Param's Mama working in US got through this week without a glitch at Bombay. Though it was carried in the Alluminum Tx case along with the cabin baggage after removing from the OEM packing.

Plan was to declare it as a personal Tx being carried for hobby purposes for the duration of stay in India. However not a single question was asked I was told. Lucky me I suppose.  :)

So far, that is the norm ("no questions asked").  Tomorrow... who knows !
