End of proprietary 2.4G era ???
That is monumental :o
Wonder why/if the Spektrum guys would sue, for IP infringement :headscratch:
Hey Rajesh! thanks for breaking the ICE... this was THE news of the day for..I just didn't want to start another LHS vs HC thread...nevertheless
This is infact a great news!! these Rx are even cheaper that $23-$20 Assan X8 Rx !!! Now I repent for not be able to buy Spektrum DX7, which was my first choice!! The cheapest Futaba FAAST Rx is at $49, indoor 6Ch :(
I won't mind if Chinese brethren rip FAAST and come up with cheaper Rx! for Foamies, many would be fine with such cheapo Rx!!
Crossing my fingers for a FAAS dupe Rx....
Anwar, has Align sued HK for dirt cheap rip off of their bread and butter 450 and 500 series Helis ? It can only happens in China!!
I would have been more happy if it were actually Spektrum OEM receiver - this could have actually fuel price war in OEM 2.4G Rx!! I guess all, I mean all would have benefited right from Futaba, JR, Sanwa owners...
Stock : -852 :o
Confirmed! They are indeed clones :( :) so is FAAST not far...
in the words of Anthony Hand, supposed owner of HC himself:

Don! how are customs in UK on import of radio ? there are lots of used Tx on E-bay and RCgroup/Wattflyer ! changing the RF board or moving to Assan would be again a costly affair anyway :( (due to discarding Futaba Rx in the later stage) ...

Compare apple to apple.
The above Tx prices by RCDhamaka was incredible and even beating many European sellers.
OrangeRx is kind of Reverse Engineering Futaba/Spektrum OEM RX (FASST/DSM) and making such 'Compatible' Recievers at rock bottom price ($14 for Spektrum, $29 for Futaba). They might not be as reliable as the OEM receivers.
One wont risk his 30,000 worth Gasser/Nitro planes. But for foamies, people like me would definitely stick to them.
in a nut shell, the OrangeRx are not direct replacement to OEM receiver all the time.
I think the below post has no relevance on this topic.
Admin request you to kindly spilt this topic. And there is a discussion going on the referred rx on this forum.

Yes, it is split out. This RX has no compatibility with the Sanwa/Airtronics stuff discussed in the other thread (http://www.rcindia.org/deals-and-special-offers/march-hot-summer-offers/).
And merged into the right thread about OrangeRX DSM2 receivers.
these RX are pretty good!!!
AR6100 had some problem so it was discontinued and upgraded AR6110 was introduced.
i think these AR6100 which are manufactured are now out in the market with such a low price with diff names!!!
i my self have 2 of these RX and its very good for my foamies, works flawlessly, with good range!!! these are parkflyer RX so not suitable for big planes!!!!
Grab it if u guys can!!!!!
HK loaded the OrangeRX again. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=11965

Now these are $10 each if you buy 10 together !
I need 5 Rx, if any one interested in sharing 5, then please let me know, as early as possible.
Regards,
Dileep
i need 5
santhosh
Be aware that buying so many items in a single pack could call the customs... as they scan every item.. they might get a hint that these are not gifts :)
Thanks for sharing Santhosh. I have done the purchase, and I will keep you informed.

No IP infringement case is possibe, this is a receiver like any other radio receiver. Again they are smart inough to make this statement:
""This is not a Spektrum receiver, nor is it a copy of a Spektrum Receiver. The Spektrum brand is a trademark of Horizon Hobbies USA."
It could be, the IP does not work that way. That disclaimer only talks about the trademark.
If they are using the same technology (DSM2), emulating/simulating in any ways, then they are breaking the laws of patents.
What I have learn from Spektrum website is that their patent is still pending, so they could use the given benefit of doubt what will be the outcome of the patent request.
If the protocol itself is patented by Spektrum, then possibly yes. Otherwise, anyone can build a receiver that can decode the signals. Something like how "Windows" and its open implementation "Wine" works.
+1 Anwar. :salute:
Hey did anyone noticed!!!!
ORange Spektrum DSM2 Compatible 6Ch 2.4Ghz Receiver with HK (mentioned above) is available for just $7.95!!!!! it is in backorder, but stilll....... am i dreaming!!!!!!
Darn... they reduced the price after I bought :-( anyways.. I got it that's good .
Oh! :(
These can now be made full range with these new satellite receivers !!
http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=13418
Who is willing to test these on their bigger models ?
Why is orange 4ch (ORNG4) expensve than 6ch (ORNG6)(hard case)?
http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?catname=2%2E4Ghz+Spektrum&idCategory=294&ParentCat=190
Can't see much difference, except that the 4channel is confirmed to support the "Model-Match" feature. Even HK claims the prices of these can fluctuate based on component prices. I have seen other sites (like diydrones.com) also report that component sourcing is becoming very tricky these days, causing things to go out of stock for many weeks.
I have 6ch case one in shipping, will do a range check to tell you once it arrive.
The Orange 6ch were being restocked regualrly and were constantly in demand however due to recent range check review posts it's demand decreased which is why HK reduced the price. However the 4ch one was never restocked (since the time I have been tracking) which is why the price is as it is.
Thanks
Hellyflyer
Please excuse my lack of know-how, but can anyone explain what is the difference between satellite receiver and regular 6ch receiver?
http://hobbycity.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=13418
A satellite receiver is only an extension of the main 6ch receiver. it is used to extend the range of the main receiver
Ah ok! so it cannot be used as a standalone receiver?
So DSM2 AR6200 has a main receiver and a satellite receiver right?
The HK spektrum will only keep it to the foamies don't trust it to fly big planes on it..

i totally agree, though it seem to work with pretty good range on foamies!!!!
Awright, just got the OrangeRX 6Ch Boxed version with extension port for satellite receiver (no receiver included). First impression, build looks OK. decent plastic body. Came with a bind plug which is a plus. Tried with my Dx6i and it was able to bind in the first try and even faster than my AR6100E... looks neat. All channels working fine. Maybe I will put it on my Su-31 for the test flight.
Reloaded $7.95 :banghead: ;D
Regards,
Dileep
I did fly my SU-31 with this receiver.. while I could not fly it far away as it keep crashing.. but the radio did not gave me any trouble whatsoever.. it looks good for the price
while it was in backorder for 7.95, i ordered 2 and they shipped it last week!!!! will be waiting another 20 days!!!!
Even DSM2 6Ch RX, clone of AR6110, is available with HK for only 7.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=12586
check this out!!! and is in stock!!!!
go grab it!!!
that is 13.65 + shipping... yet very cheap but not 7.99 :)
surprising... once I logged onto website its 7.99.. looks like only for platinum buyers :)
thats rite!!!!!
Now i am waiting for full range clone!!!!!!!
I just received my 2 Orange Rx, surprising, after shipping it took only around 10 days!!!!!
shipping was normal post, no tracking, came in an envelop!!!!!
i noticed one more thing abt orange Rx, it have 3 Pin port on one side, i think may be we can connect satellite RX and can be use it as full range!!!!
Ashish
I think we can use orange satellite Rx to increase its range!!!
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=13418
Hi friends, Just now ordered 2 orange rx.
Any feedback from those who have used it about its range and performance. :)
I have 1 heli, 1 trainer, 1 glider and one 15 size electric model. Dont want to use the original receiver with all because its costly :)......
I am using the 4 channel receiver on my slow stick and it works great
No glitches and sufficient range for parkflyers!
Havent dared to use it on my ezystar, coz i take take it very high!
thanks buddy for your feedback :)

BokilAP : hope you are not putting your Easy* on Vodka Shots!!
One funny thing about Orange Rx is that Sat Rx is costlier than the actual Rx! At least Orange FASST Rx are full Range, so the $29 cost!!
can we use the current (original) satallite receiver with this Rx?
Orange Rx are good, i am using it on all my foamies with pretty good range..till i can see them and dont lose orientation.
for heli it shouldn't be a problem. but if ur talking abt big planes then i will not advice u!!!
say till the wingspan is 30"-35", it will work fine, but for larger size, need more range so cant say....

Beer man Beer! vodka is for girls. :P......kidding!
So far so good from our field on foamies and one fairly big electric (this model http://www.kyosho.com/eng/products/rc/detail.html?product_id=102660).
Anwar bhai, are you talking about the 4ch one or the 6ch one?
The 4 ch receiver is reported to have a longer range than the 6 ch (hard case) one.
6 channel ones, if I remember right.
BTW, I saw the big electric plane go to the edges of recognition, so I guess range is not a problem in general.
wow.... {:)} so its a prudent decision for me to buy this.
One more confusion..how to bind this received with the current Tx? I mean if I attached all the receivers at the same time then can I operate all my three receivers simultaneously ?

binding is same as original spektrum rx, i think u can use multiple rx same time if u bind them simultaneously!!!
Hmmm, that sounds counter-intuitive to the "model-match" feature of Spektrum :headscratch:
Model match is like, my DX7 have 20 model memory, so whenever i bind 1st model with rx, that rx will be only usable with 1st model, unless i re-bind it to any other model. so if i accidentally select incorrect model then that rx will not respond!!!
if we bind more than one rx simultaneously to same model, those rx will only work for 1st model and not for other model.
i think this is again model-match, only thing is we hav multiple RX for same model and bind at the same time (not rebinding to same model again) . though i nvr tried this but theoretically it should work.. will try this thing!!!!
i think Dave, from rcpowers, has used multiple rx in his experimental su-37, with gyro stabilization.
Yes, you are right. There are references DSM2 supporting this. Just bind one after the other.
That was a thinko on Model-Match, only the receiver stores the guid from the particular model, and not the other way around, so it will work.
