I want to use a lipo on my Cougar ps3i which came stock with TT XXT. Currently i use 8 nicd AA cells but i am not happy with the run-time. Lasts for about an hour max!

I have a Trunigy 1450mah 3s lipo and was wondering if it can be used with this radio. Please help as i use this vehicle once in two days and recharging the nicd often is becoming annoying.  :banghead:

You could low self discharge Ni-mh,should last much longer then the lipo.The turnigy AA batteries are quite good.Haven't recharged them since 5 months and they still have good voltage.

Wow thats good. But i already have the lipo so was wondering if i could use it.

With some protection and voltage regulation circuitry,I don't see a problem.

Lipo protection is not a problem as the radio has a voltage indicator. Just want to know if the radio can handle lipo 3s voltages. Couldnt find anything online.

Probably not.You will need a regulator IMO

IMHO, go for duracell,its cheaper than a NiMh/Lipo, plus a set of fresh duracell last me over 12 hours!!!!
Trust me man, its just For Rs. 136 for 8, runtime- 12+ hours

Normal alkaline cells- Rs. 40 for 8, runtime- 1 hour. (i.e. for 12 hours- Rs 480 for alkaline cells compared to almost a quarter priced duracell!!!)
I'll be back.

^You mean Rs 40 for 8 Zinc batteries.

The Ni-mh batteries however drop voltage only when its at end of its capacity,compared to alkaline which as linear curve.

@rajathv8
At full charge the voltage of the lipo is going to well around 12.6,so i wouldn't recommend a lipo.
Just get a those cheap turnigy AA it has nearly twice the capacity of the lipo.

I would second the suggestion on the LSD cells.But my Traxxas radio goes on for quite a long time with rechargeable NiMH cells.
