Guys. Time has come to start saving for this great radio that Futaba recently announced - 18MZ

Looks like its got a camera, great resolution and telemetry built in !
I would love to have one of these !!!
HUGE NEWS from the Shizuoka trade show in Japan this week. Futaba announced the 18MZ transmitter! Six years ago the 14MZ was introduced and it redefined what a transmitter could do for the pilot. Now, the 18MZ redefines this once again. Welcome to the world's most advanced radio control transmitter! 18 channels, bidirectional FASSTest technology and a huge 640 x 240 LCD touch screen name just a few of its key features. Stay tuned for more details to come...
Is the camera for taking picture for model memory ???
There is a camera on this thing?
Can we also make phone calls with it? Can we surf the internet on it? :P
Internet might be helpful to browse RCI and check out latest posts while on field. :):)
Yeah i can show my landing skills to the whole rc world!......live! :D
i could help show CRASHES live :banghead: :banghead: .... and HOW NOT TO FLY A PLANE...!!! :giggle: :giggle:
....uh....thats what i meant in my earlier post... 8-) :D
If I start saving right now, may be i'll be able to rent it for a day :giggle:
will it serve me a beer and do my laundry ?

Only if u are nice to it and compliment it on how it looks, once in a while :P
Seriously guys...sorry, i have very limited knowledge about this......but how and where do you use 18 channels?
if someone plans to make a eurocopter EC155 / boeing 777 / adv jets.... with all moving parts like
landing gear, slats, two types of flaps, airbrakes, wheel brakes, wing sweep back, rev thruster, extra trimmer slat...... and many more...
Oh ok.....yeah i will be doing that in the year 2111
*goes back to landing slowstick without tearing the foam apart*
Or if someone wants to fly a 3D plane while his glider is thermalling high above; wow that would be so cool 8-)
Damn, now I'm gonna get dreams of doing this :banghead:
you guys,,, ur imaginations are flying like a glider without fail safe :giggle: :giggle:
forgot to mention on board starter.....
Now that is a SICK radio. Can it fly your plane for you? :D
can i watch a movie on that ? ;)
what to do with all the 18 channels?????
Wow ! Its got telemetry - Will it monitor the RPM on the landing gear wheels and alert me if the wheel collars are tight ?

what to do with all the 18 channels?????
If I had that Radio in my hands, I would use 18 channels for -
1 - Throttle
2- Aileron
3 - Rudder
4 - Elevator
5 - Landing Gear
6 - Landing Gear brakes
7 - Air Brakes
8 - Lights
9 - Engine Starter
10 - Flaps
11 - Slats
12 - Rev thrust
13 - Canards (for some planes)
14 - Bomb Drop
15 - Pyrotechnics(small explosives, rockets)
16 - Smoke
17 - Telemetry
18 - FPV camera Control
OMG - you neeed wayy more to do that .
Need 2 for aileron
2 for elevator
FPV will need more for Pan / Tilt
And what about Ejection ?
Two for aileron will free up channel for flaps, if the 18MZ has mixing feature ;D

On the contrary flaps will need 2 servos too.
I WISH
if some one design a tx which can be programmed to fly a plane automatically without human intervention once programmed. IN smple
Program like:
1. Start the engine- check controls - check ele.- chk rudder - chk airlons - chk landing gear - chk etec etc.
2. taxi to the runway
3. halt at runway stating position.
4. full throttle.
5. take off.
6. take off angle (defined) move forward 100Mtr.
7. turn left (airlon movement defined) + ele.
8. move 200 Mtr. straight.
9. turn right (airlon movement defined) + ele.
9. throttle to 50%
10. go striaght 50 Mtr.
11. maintain speed to 40 Kmpl.
12. full throttle.
13. go straight UP
14. hold for 10 Sec.
15. throttle zero
16. Free Fall
17. wait for 7 sec.
18. full throttle.
19. ele.
20. stable flight parallel to ground.
21. prog to land.
and so on...........................................
Yes of cource , all is managed by GPS and other telemetery on the plane....

In that case, Sir, why not sit and enjoy a Flight simulation game, all in the comfort of your home !
I haven't read much about this but are all the channels proportional or are some proportional while some are just on/off switches?

True :salute:
I think i wont be buying this radio, it will be an overkill for my easystar and slowstick ;D

Thrills of such system can be enjoyed without any investment.
Just go to the field and watch other people flying ;D
.....or you can give me your plane and i would do that for you, for free....but i am not programmed for point 20 onwards ;D
very creative ideas coming after 18Mhz launched............ :banghead:
the TRP of Futaba is increased :banghead:
If Atul buys this we would not have to get helmets on the field ;D.
Regards,
Mohan
@mohan,
r u sure??....it is related to tx?...;D
Well he can have one of the 18 channels assigned to self destruct; whenever he feels his plane is going to hit somebody, he flips the self destruct switch, the plane explodes before impact and we are only hit by tiny pieces of foam.
Mohan sir :giggle: :giggle:
Am the official bomber on our field.. :salute:
Would be coming on this sunday..In btwn you should put some pics of your build I think you are a very good aeromodeller yourselves..
Would make sense for a club to buy this and use it on a time sharred basis i guess.
Atul Bhai,
If you are coming on Sunday its better if the rest of us keep away. lol... ;D...Anyway I am coming on Saturday and Sunday...

Sir, Do u mean 40 kmpl or kmph? if its kmpl, do u want it to setup the plane at a speed which will consume fuel @ 40 kmpl? i dont think that feature will soon be available in a Tx.

I hope this never happens!! I thought the whole fun was in the flying part. Else why dont we just go to the airport and sip on a coffee while watching planes fly on their own ;D
