Dear Members...
We have been working on launching a 8 or 10 channel transmitter for quite sometime now... few things that we kept in mind were the cost, flexibility and longevity of the software. With this brief by default, we worked on a OpenSource platform and to keep the cost minimal we took the same RCB6i radio and made some modifications like
- large screen size
- roller button (we are still not happy with this roller and might change to a common button)
- increase switches and dials on the transmitter

The features of this transmitter are
- Open Source
- 10Ch or 8Ch (we will finalize this soon)
- Telemetry
- Voice enabled
- SD card enabled for storing and accessing files
- Vibrations enabled (if cost is not too high)
- A MP3 player  ;D (if possible)
- Suitable for helis, planes and quads
We have completed the "draft" version of the software   and have been testing it for some time.

The reason for announcing this here is to get realistic views and suggestion from the RC Community. We would like to invite experienced members who have been proficient in usage of Opensource transmitters like Frsky and its likes and let us know what features / menus we can add or delete in this radio.
We would like TWO EXPERIENCED members here to take a deep look into this radio software and give us a flowchart of how they would like to see this radio. In return for this help we will gift them each one Transmitter at our cost.

We are also looking to have a Hindi menu on this radio once the base software is finalized. We will again require help form ONE member here who can translate the menu features in Hindi for which we will gift a Transmitter from our side.
We appreciate honest and feasible suggestions as this will not only help us but also the enthusiasts in using this radio.

Attached are a few pics and below is a short video of this Transmitter and we will work very closely with the chosen members for this project. Anyone interested please do email me at with your contact number and we will call you to take this forward. Please note that we will choose as per our requirement / discretion and if anyone is not chosen we apologize for any discomfort in advance.

Nice

Two questions

1. What family of microcontroller ? ARM , AVR or something else
2. What RF module used ? common ones are cc2500 / A7105 / SI4432 -- or something else

Wow this seems like a really cool product! It is great to have an indigenous 8 channel radio. I have a few questions about this radio and some suggestions.
Questions:
1. Do you plan to market this radio with or without a radio module? If you plan to include a module, which protocol do you plan to use (considering it is telemetry capable)? Also, will it be possible to swap out the module for something like FrSky/LRS?
2. Do you plan on including compatibility with er9x/openTx since these firmwares currently have a large user base and are under active development. Until the SMART-10 can build up such a base it may be advantageous to be compatible with er9x/openTx. A button based navigation system may be more suitable in this case.
3. With this set of features, the SMART-10 will be competing with radios like the 9XR Pro. What are the planned advantages of this radio over the 9XR Pro (Apart from your usual great pricing ;D)? I do not mean to be offensive, I am curious about the advantages of migrating to this radio for 9x family (9X/9XR/9XR Pro) users like myself.
4. Could you please share the schematics and firmware of this prototype?

My suggestions:
1. Please change the gimbals used for the transmitter sticks. I have used the RCB6i and I found the throttle had an uncomfortable ratcheting feeling.
2. Please try to allow the radio to be powered by standard 2-3S LiPo or LiFe batteries. Perhaps you could use a JST-XH connector in the battery bay.

Commendable effort

Lipo support would be a must have these days.

Try keeping the weight close to rcb6i, a module based radio where the user can put his own module would be much better. I almost thought of selling my rcb6i when my rx broke and the rx was out of stock in your shop.

Full lcd screen and simple intuitive interface would be a plus, after a long time after losing the manual for rcb6i i forgot what those codes in the lcd mean. Price really doesnt matters as far as its worth for the price.

thanks a lot...
I think we are missing the point here... we need inputs on the new software menu and features only.. this existing transmitter is an product extension of the rcb6i hence will not include any modules etc... yes a good point on compatibility of this with opentx etc which was not envisaged earlier... lipos and nimh are already compatible with the RCB6i and will continue to have in this new version too..
and we have got quite a good emails already and we will finalise on this soon

For input menus you can simply follow Flysky or Tunigy. I had an experience of using RCB6i and i was literally uncomfortable with the menu options. I had to find the Servo End Points, and I struggled a lot, but after almost a week i came to know that this particular setting is called Travel Adjust in this Radio. So my sincere suggestion is to use common terms rather than exclusive ones.

Very impressive effort. If you are planning to use hindi too, why not in other Indian language too. I can help in bengali and others in oher regional language too. But please keep in mind that while unknown language is set, RESET should set it to English, not in Chinese or telegu. Moreover it's module option should support the maximum available option and the accessories should be available in your store. You should be with the model for 3-5 years so that effort will give maximum output.
We have to unite and to prove ourself to make indigenous products as well as marketing / Canvasing them. I'm sure we must achieve success if we try unitedly.

Commendable effort RC Bazaar...  {:)} {:)} {:)}
Rather than going for Lipos as a source use 3.7V Li-on battery(mobile batteries)(cheaper and safer and long lasting!)
And instead of using a black body can you use another colour like dull red, Silver(like the taranis)....On hot sunny days the black Tx are bound to get warm

sahilkit

just a tip for accessing the menus, scrolling setting etc why not use the sticks as input.
Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

I would say instead of multilingual, you people can concentrate on tech abilities. Now everyone is fairly comfortable with english and manual would be lengthy in multilingual. Also for the firmware, u can release it without firmware but with a usb asp port, so that anyone can put some opensource fw like er9x

Well as Ashok Sir has said, Just one Language is enough as almost everyone is familiar with English. Moreover, more the no. of Languages more the Controller memory consumed, that may affect the overall performance of the Radio. Rather than including more Languages you can concentrate on improving the UI.

thanks a lot everyone... there is till a long way to go on this tx... we will keep you posted here...
