Yes its true, radios are rebranded hence rx may be compatible across brands such as HK,FS,TGY.
But which radio do you have exactly?
Please be careful while dealing, couple of LHS's out there which needs to be avoided.

Nevermind, just read the title. Why do want to get a 9ch rx for a 6ch tx? Its bulkier to begin with.
If your Tx is version 2(http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__9042__hobby_king_2_4ghz_6ch_tx_rx_v2_mode_2_.html) then it should be compatible. I have it, will try to bind them later.

Just tested an HK 6ch V2 tx with a turnigy 9X8C v2 receiver and it works

I tried doing this but didn't got any success. in that.

100% sure, checked it once again. A video to quell your doubts. I had to try it thrice, but it did bind in the end.

thanks to all for giving a replay.
fs 6ch receiver is out of stock on most of the sites.thats why i thought about turnigy receiver.no response from my receiver connected with battery with transmitter on.if i order from hk it may take long time to get it.
