QuoteSo anyone attempting a scratch build with this combo could do within 3.5K.....
:headscratch:

Well... I meant 7.5K and not actually 3.5K. I was thing about the combo offer by Sai at less than 6 and writing about the radio at less than 3. Hence the mixup. Thanks Sahil

QuoteI guess it is one of those pros and cons things.

Pro: Easier to fly because the plane is self correcting.

Con: When one "graduates" beyond trainer level he/she will have a false sense of confidence and will need to "unlearn" the technique for turning. I feel this to be a major minus.
Hangar: Zlin 50L -120, CMPro Super Chipmunk, Ultimate Bipe EP, Imagine 50, Christen Eagle 160, Ultra Stick, Super Sports Senior

That would be the case when you have rudder plugged into rudder , but not the case when you have rudder plugged into aileron channel.

So do you always purposefully plug in the rudder servo into the aileron channel on the 3 channel planes while setting them up for beginners ?

It is much better , in fact I learnt this from Capt Manish whom I saw did it for his 3 channel glider this way for a beginner  you are simulating an Aileron . So when he actually gets  to using aileron he is already familiar with using that channel.
Till date I have found it a very useful way with beginners  eg , they fly with rudder elevator when flying my easy cub  and after  a few flying days when they try the twin star which has ailerons I have found they easily handle the aileron's   .

In fact quite a few college students have gone thru this  with ease  in the past couple of months

IMO 2 servo will do just install the rudder servo on ailerons done
Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

Putting the rudder on aileron channel (a clever idea!) only helps with the "unlearning" when moving from 3 channel (turns using rudder) to 4 channel (turns using aileron).

The larger issue of turn authority still remains. Wonder if a 2 servo setup with only aileron and elevator is the right balance (especially in the long term) for a beginner ?

Sai - One clarification...  does this radio support elevon mixing ?

If not, is there an easy way (in terms of products that you carry) for people to handle it outside the radio ?
Hangar : Please see my introduction.

No it  does not have Elevon Mixing it is like the Futaba Sky Sport 4 channel radio .

Most people with this type of radio  use a V tail Mixer  with it for elevon mixing.

Sai sir,
Though the thread is quite old, but is there any low priced combo pack is present to you? Even with FM ? If yes, please mention current price. Initially I want to starter pack selected by you though, I know, later another radio is required.

Thanks
