Guys ,
We just received the FST4 A 2.4 G Beginners Radio .
Same as the Hobby King 2.4 G Tx /Rx  but from  a more direct route :

RCFORALL 2.4Ghz 4Ch Tx & Rx (Mode 2)(THROTTLE ON THE LEFT)
RCFORALL FST4A 2.4ghz system is an entry level transmitter offering the reliability of 2.4Ghz signal technology and a twin receiver antenna.

IT IS LIKE A 2.4G FUTABA SKY SPORT OF THE GOOD OLD DAYS .

No Mixing functions plain simple Tx with Servo reversal

Key Features;
4-channel 2.4GHz transmitter with servo reversing.
Easy to use control for basic models.
Includes 6-channel receiver
Trainer system option.
This system does not need a PC to program servo direction.
Included;
1 x 2.4Ghz transmitter
1 x 2.4Ghz Receiver
1 x Bind Plug.

Here are some Photos .
Sorry we have only limited stocks as the major Quantity is pre booked.

The Price is Rs 2700 + courier.

Looking at the possibility of offering a FMS  simulator cable for this Tx in the near future .

Tested this Radio last Sunday on my good old faithful easy cub and  both Saju and me had a great time despite high winds , the range is great and the response is faster than 72 Mhz  not as  fast as the assan but surely  appreciably faster than the FM frequencies i must admit .
I fell in love with the simplicity of this radio to such an extent that despite me having the Futab 6 Ex ( dual band ) and the JR 8103 I have decided to keep one for myself   . Though this breaks  the promise to my wife that I would return it back to the shop  after the test ;) ;D She does not know this as yet .

Yes, you need a sim to go along with this.

Also, what kind of battery ?  Can it take lithium/rechargeable ones ?

It can take a 3s lipo - works fine, I charge it once a month - I fly quite less but use it extensively on my sim. It can be connected to the pc via the trainer socket and configured easily using smartpropoplus.

It would be great if you can also suggest a foamy to go with this, either ARF or a link to a nice and simple plan for scratch build.  That way, a beginner need not look anywhere else.  In fact, it may make sense to split this into a separate thread, or start a new one with all of this information combined. Also include what type of glue is needed etc.

In short, a one stop shop to get started.

will the lipo (which weighs 100 grams) be too heavy for a plane weighing 300 grams with the electronics sans the battery..
if so can i substitute the combo with a different lipo.?

edit: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=863131/
i am trying to build this foam plane....

or buy the epp sukhoi from sai.

I have said this is Ok for planes upto 900 gms.
You can surely substitute with motors like 2204 , 2208 , 2805  with lower capacity ESC's  or batteries as well.

ok! :)
thanks for clearing up.

sai i don't know whether i was intentional or not but i have noticed that something very basic is missing in your combo  :-X
Today might be a great and wonderful day. It depends on you.

Thanks for pointing out the omission.

2 Nos either 3.7/4.4/6 or 9 gms servos are included as well in the  combo.

It was a mistake not including them in the list  but they would have come as a part of the combo in any case

Correction made now.

Thanks Sahil BTW I don't mind you being open about pointing out a mistake  {:)}

And the combos should be complete, including servos, and any type of special glue needed etc.

I did note that servos are missing, in the other thread.   8-)  And 3 hours earlier than Sahil ;D

Also, a reasonable combo should have at least 3 servos, right ?

Cheers to Sai for bringing the low cost combo. Any attempt to lower the entry load in this hobby is much appreciated. So anyone attempting a scratch build with this combo could do within 3.5K.....

That's wonderful. This is exactly what I have been stating in another thread on lowering cost to promote this hobby. I finally feel that the catch line of Sai ' RC For All' is being realized.  :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

You are right Sahil, can't see how the numbers add up.  The radio, power system, servos, model...  all together it is in the 10K range ?

Most electric beginners planes be they ARF or Scratch built are Rudder, elevator in most cases .
The reasons I guess are :
1) The Hi Dihedral / polyhedral  reduce the effect of ailerons
2) A Yaw turn is easier to handle than a roll turn .
3) for a beginner a bank is a bit disorienting .

The Logic of 2 servos is this .
Eg
ARF : Slow Stick , Easy Star , Easy Cub , Beaver  etc etc are all rudder elevator planes
Scratch Built : Blu Baby ( original ) , Blu Beagle , Gym Blue , Tuffy etc are  again rudder elevator .

We have quite  few beginners who come to us to buy stuff as it is  and many more are allowed to try their hand at RC ( free )  when they  come Kovalam , Chennai on Sunday's when we fly , hence the Combo has been designed taking these observations into account for the vast majority .

Those who need  extra servos could buy them separately .

Also have a look at the combos offered by GWS :
http://www.gwsus.com/english/product/system/system.htm

Majority offer 2 servos in a Combo  for a beginner. ;D

I guess it is one of those pros and cons things.  When we (me and my brother) first started in RC (in the late 50s  :giggle:), my brother got a 3 channel Cessna (foam ARF), and it was very hard to turn it in time using rudder alone (we made rookie mistakes like flying in a school ground with limited space, and in medium winds); with the end result that the model disappeared from sight (it was recovered with some damages though).  Only when we tried a plane with ailerons that we realized how easy tight turns are with those.

But you are right, ailerons are yet another thing for a beginner to worry about and get disoriented.

On the other hand, I know at least a few fliers who are between the beginner and intermediate levels who NEVER use rudders at all during flight and prefer only to use ailerons for turns (of course with elevator corrections!).  So ailerons seems to be preferred in some way.

When I was a beginner, I preferred aileron over rudder too. My first plane had only rudder, after 5-6 flights I made another one with aileron and never looked back. This plane did not have a rudder. The rudder alone does not give enough authority to recover from steep banks due to beginner mistakes or cross winds pushing the plane over. I learnt all my basics on my aileron plane and didn't really miss the rudder. I started using the rudder again when I moved to flying glow planes and was initially using it only during take off runs and landings.
