hmm, this turns out to be cheap than going in for a new 2.4ghz radio...Assan modules seem to be very reliable as per whatever i have read..Wow, even the module with receivers cost is cheap compared to normal 2.4ghz... {:)}  {:)}v

This is good stuff  {:)} I would like to be the second guy to turn my radio into a 2.4ghz for a cheap price.. {:)}

Mr.Sai waiting to see some pics soon... (:|~ In btwn i got one of the assan module pics..

Dear All

I am trying to upload some explanations about the 2.4Ghz system. 2.4Ghz system as explained in the website www.rcmodelreviews.com

Thank you Saju for posting these.  It validates the discussion we had here except for couple of points.

1. Wish they had put a date on the "teething problems" file, it says 2.4 has been out for a year, they have been out since 2006 I think (at least Spektrum was).

2. The "teething problems" talk about issues that have been resolved already.  I have seen people crash earlier due to both the receiver reset taking longer on Spektrum, and I have seen a friend having to ship out his JR XP9303 back to the US to fix the wire chaffing issue.  Both are not issues now.  Never saw any problems with Futaba, the zero guid problem affected only a small batch it seems.

3. Futaba FASST is the best technology, as validated in this article. Spektrum/JR, Airtronics and Assan all seem pretty reliable.

4. Even 2.4 is not totally interference free (in theory at least), but chances of real-life interferences are very very remote (pretty much non-existent).

5. For aircraft with full carbon frames/fuses, 2.4 is not the right choice.  A friend learned it the hard way on his pylon racers.

6. Pretty much all failures on 2.4 are due to inadequate battery power, or incorrect mounting.

7. Heat is an issue for current generation of Futaba 2.4 receivers.  Common sense solutions apply !

Again, there is no doubt at all that 2.4 is becoming the present, and definitely the future (until something even better comes by).
