How do i fix the broken receiver wire. Should I solder  a basic wire as i have lost the older wire.

Thanks in advance!

No i guess... That is a multilayer antenna wire available separately... Lack of proper soldering will make the range fall...
Go for a replacement antenna wire

Arun any specific name for the antenna.

its called as coaxial wire and you should be good at point soldering to solder otherwise consult any local mobile repair shop they will do the job.

Avesh I am not that good at soldering and once I have done this without any issues in the first attempt.. so go ahead.. watching a YouTube clip will give more confidence..
Just wait for someone to suggest a good place to get the wire.. I have seen that in hk.. ;)

Nithin & arun . I'll search local market for coaxial cable and definitely won't do it myself

You will get the wire from Laptop Wifi Antenna wire which goes from internal wifi card to the wifi antenna behind screen in the flap. Laptop Repair Guys have it.

Just soldering a correct length of simple wire (Exactly equal to the Length of exposed wire at the tip in original antenna wire) on the antenna contact without soldering ground will also work for a lesser range.

Avesh I have one of those 2.4Gig aerial if you want. You might have to cut it to the correct length

You will need a fine tipped soldering iron. I guess satya was selling the MAX 450 recently. Its a useful tool for smd repair.

Sundaram sir sure i'll visit laptop repair shop nearby . One of my friend told me that the coaxial contains two lead that solders right onto the receiver and further informed me that replacing a normal wire can cause range issue. May be if If I cannot make is work than I'll mount it to my heli.

Girish sir if I fail to get the correct cable i 'll contact you.

I still haven't found a way to restore the range on my FlySky 6Channel receiver, same problem.
I've tried using a normal single strand wire, didn't go more than 10m and then I tried similar coax that got ripped off the PCB, but the length of the antenna wire seems to be super critical. After about 6 attempts and some searching on the internet, the maximum range I've gotten out of it is less than 100m. It definitely wasn't a straight forward fix, I used 70cm of coax and now I use the Rx on my cars and boats.  :giggle:

Good luck!

that's strange to me, don't know how the length factor is so critical but anyways my receiver has print of master and slave configuration and sad note is master is broken. I won't be testing it on my plane rather manual range test . I have carefully measured the length of the wire and its 145mm. and the bad thing is the size of this coaxial. I was not able to find the similar cable in local electronic market. sad sad

It's a 0.8mm Teflon insulted coax with 3 strand core, I think.

Its not the total length of the coax cable but the length of the exposed thin wire at the tip which is critical. If you can manage to expose the centre wire length close to 0.5mm of the original length then it should work perfect if the soldering at the receiver is done nicely with fine tip low heat soldering iron

Over all length of coax wire makes not much difference in performance just try to keep it in the multiples of exposed wire
To have good impedence match.

If your receiver has a ufl connector you can just plug a laptop aerial as such and use it. Or you can expose the Central wire of laptop aerial coax to the same length of original antenna.

I am planning to replace my original two aerials with these two laptop aerial for long range FPV on 2.4 Ghz

Sunderarm sir, the actual antenna part of my receiver was not damaged and I soldered the ripped end of the coax back on to the PCB, but I still don't get more than 100m range.

i was at one's wit's end , now Sundaram sir and others have made it quite clear .  I'll do as you have instructed and by God's will i'll test it tomorrow.... :)

@AnjanBabu its nice you shared your experience..

Sure, let us know how it goes.

I'm going to try making an antenna with the WiFi cable again, not sure if my coax was of the right kind. ;D

+ been testing the receiver for two days and good thing is no issue encountered so far. Tested on my hawk sky , with range span of ~ 300mts without any signal break. Later tested it with heli and was success. I was not able to find any coaxial with that much small diameter so i soldered a normal gauge wire equavalent of its size to match the original and that pretty did the job.. Sad note -> broke another wire during heli maiden, that leaves me no choice of buying a new RX.

Once again Thanks to all who helped me during this massacre :)

Here i am posting a video of my heli testing the penalized receiver , with fear of sacrificing it and Was not hard on heli.

cheers. :)

Do you have any pictures of the fixed up Rx? Also, give me a briefing on how you made it work without the coax, like the antenna length and stuff like that. :D

Sundaram Ji and All,

I also have a similar problems and tried to repair it.My coax wire has a cut near Rx housing,so i just cutted 1 cm wire fro PCB and resolder on PCB with rest of length ( 9 cm).

Rx was OK with in 200-300 mts and range test was ok. Local RC modelar told me , that 2.4 Gz RX releses large energy , if rx connected with BAT with out antena , it will permanently damaged.

pl advise, what to do next.

Thanks and Regards

sundaram

Thats applicable for only tx not for rx. Anyhow its not adviceable to switch on tx. Rx may be avoided

Thats not a good wire for receiver antenna.

aniket210696

why don't you just buy a new rx? isn;t it easier?
