This E Sky Radio should  be  useful as it is also suitable for flying heli's :

Almost any RC radio with 4 channels should work, in terms of range. If you are not going to do RC in the longer term, get the simplest 4 channel you can find.

Be aware of toy radios that come with toy planes and cars though (the ones that are available in supermarkets etc).

Just to elaborate what Anwar bhai wants to emphasize.  These Toy RC radio are not proportional one, beside being 3 channel most of time. This means, when you move the sticks, you would be either Turning 'Off' or 'On' and and not a linear/digital value of -255 to +255.

Fantastic Explanation by Ujjwaana. I agree...., i have one 4 channel tx (as marked). which can only switch on/off or move motor in reverse direction. Actually i should say 3 channel........
