Payload Competition Electric-Draft
MODEL AIRCRAFT PAYLOAD COMPETITION(Electric)
1.The aircraft must be self designed ,no kit/ARF/RTF permitted
2.The aircraft may be constructed of any material.
3.The aircraft will use an Electric motor of any size..
4.No autopilot or stabilisation system permitted.
5.Empty weight of aircraft will include,airframe,battery,ESC,motor,RC receiver,Rc receiver battery,Servos,propeller,spinner,landing gear wheels.
6.Payload will include the weight carried in a secure compartment to prevent it from falling in mid air,falling of weight will disqualify.No lead is permitted as payload.
7.The aircraft will take off on its own power.
8.The aircraft must land safely,crash landing will disqualify.
9.The model will make a successful flight and circuit for 3minutes including takeoff and landing,no aerobatics are permitted.
10.Individual or a team comprising of two flyers can participate.
11.The individual/team carrying maximum payload will be declared winner.

Sir,
You may like to consider (weight with payload)/(weight without payload), instead of just payload to determine the winner.
This will allow planes of different sizes to compete on equal terms.
Otherwise the biggest motor/plane will win.

P.S. I remember searching for your father's house in Begumpet and meeting your brother Ajit(?) in 1974 or so. So must have first come to your house in Delhi over 40 years ago. How time flies!

What is going to be the payload?
I have an airframe which is hand launched and belly landing(e.i. without landing gear) can I use it?

The requirement is enumerated above-plane has to takeoff from ground no hand launch payload ratio will be calculated as follows:-
Weight of aircraft in flying status with batteries/motor etc=x
maximum weight carried in any flight =y
Payload ratio is =Y/X,Whoever has the max payload ratio wins,three attempts will be permitted and highest pay load carried will be taken into account in any of the three flights.

What can one expect - 2:1?, 3:1?
Minimum flight 3 minutes?
Would like to know before i start breaking my head on this problem

The thumb rule seems to be 20%of empty wt.
Will try 60- 100% of empty wt on sunday (if no rain) and report results.

How much is 0.46 ax engine's power in watts? Around 460 watts?

You can check the specs of the engine from the engine data sheet and convert to Watts.

Thanks for incorporating my suggestion of payload ratio instead of just payload.
Next suggestion.
What about postal qualifying rounds?
1st round videos of carrying 1:1
2nd round videos of carrying 2:1
These can qualify for Pinjore.
Feasible or bar set too high?

At 746 watts per HP it will be around 1194 watts in total.
