The Annual Aviation Festival of IIT Bombay- Zephyr 2009 will kick-off on the 9th of October evening and will be having exciting competitions, never-seen before exhibitions, lecture series and the workshops over the weekend on the 10th and 11th of October. Some of the highlights of Zephyr 2009 are:

COMPETITIONS:
1. Technical Design Challenge-A paper presentation Competition: A chance to get your idea closer to reality. Submit an abstract before 26th September and if shortlisted, a unique cchance to present your idea in front of an elite panel comprising of research specialists from Aerospace biggies like Boeing! Also huge cash prizes and internships in Boeing and Discovery at stake!!!
2. MachINFINITY- RC plane design and flying competition: Make the fastest RC (Remote Controlled) plane that covers 100 mts in the shortest time and win loads of cash prizes worth 40000INR!
3. FlightSim: The FlightSim competition gets a new twist with the competition being held on an actual Aircraft controls' mock up consisting of rudder pedals and throttle control switches!
4. Aerotainment Quiz: The highly awaited Aero-trivia returns with an exciting and highly entertaining avataar!
5. AeroRace: The On-the-spot Competitions are sure to keep the crowd busy during Zephyr 2009.

EXHIBITIONS:
1. Mobile Flight Simulator: India's only indigenous Mobile Flight Simulator makes its way to IIT Bombay for the first time!
2. UAV/MAV Conclave: The Conclave promises to be the biggest extravaganza of Zephyr 2009 with UAVs from DRDO expected to be displayed during Zephyr.

WORKSHOPS:
1. RC Plane Workshop: The Boeing sponsored workshop will be once in a blue moon opportunity for the students to get an insight into RC aeromodelling with the help of a 40'' wingspan polyhedral balsa plane kit.
2. Model Rocketry Workshop: For the first time, you will get a chance to make these extreme machines and launch them into the blue skies of the SAC grounds with a lil bit help from the Nehru Science Center.
3. Balsa Plane Workshop: The balsa plane workshop would be the best way to get a feel of Aeromodeling.
4. MSC Software workshop: The FEM (Finite Element Method) Software workshop will be conducted by MSC software company.

LECTURE SERIES: Aerospace biggies like Dr.Naveed Hussain (Vice-President, Boeing Research), Eric Raymond (President, Solar Flight, World's Largest Solar Powered Aircaft Company) are lined up for the distinguished Lecture Series.
