This hobby, as we know it, is in the midst of an existential crisis.
If you look at the DGCA thread, you'll know what the problem is.

Till this is resolved, can we refrain from petty issues like gap filling glues etc?

VIPIN_KUMAR

For some gap filling may be the case of life or death now.... :giggle:

Gap filling glue?

Just an example of the kind of stuff we discuss on this forum,
Forgetting that the very future of our hobby is at stake.

@vipin_kumar
@RCNeil21,
Are you following the DGCA thread?
And hopefully you are following the Geospacial data regulation draft...
Time to be serious guys.

VIPIN_KUMAR

I have sent my comments to DGCA....I know the survival as well as the growth of this hobby is at stake...I hope DGCA pays heed to our demands otherwise this hobby will see a stunted growth....

The penalties under the geospatial bill are harsh..strictly going as per the bill it would be near impossible to take aerial photograph or video....

I read the draft of the bill and it is surprising. Is there any similar law in other countries? We need licence to photograph from air? So anyone clicking photographs even through aircraft window is liable for imprisonment? All images shot from UAs are banned? What about FPV?

What is going on in this country?

Quote(2) Every person who has already acquired any geospatial imagery or data of any part of India either through space or aerial platforms such as satellite, aircrafts, airships, balloons, unmanned aerial vehicles or terrestrial vehiclesor any other manner including value addition prior to coming of this Act into effect, shall within one year from the commencement of this Act,make an application alongwith requisite fees to the Security Vetting Authority for retaining such geospatial information and grant of licence thereof.

And even the existing photos and videos  :banghead:

India is fast turning into a police state. With every step you make, you are violating some law. Maybe by posting in this forum I am violating some law  :headscratch:

Gap filling glue is the most important component which needs discussion now Iyer Sir.  :giggle:

K K Iyer

@sundaram sir,
Beside logo competition etc  ;D

With you and Gusty (and my sambandhis) there, I'll have to seriously consider moving back to Lucknow.
And share tales of how I became a member of the Officers Mess, how my Miss World was lost at Bakshi, how the Maruts/Jags looked for it, how i found it flying a Piper with the CM's pilot...

sundaram

Sir We are eagerly looking forward to your visit to Lucknow.

Gusty and myself would be absolutely  thrilled.

K K Iyer

Where one of the aeromodellers just happens to be a member of a Regulatory Board...

sundaram

Whom are you referring to Sir.

PRAVEEN JOSE

So u mean to say that....stop talking ...stop sales ...stop everything else and just think about the dgca regulations ....what's your point @iyyer sir

It was just a light hearted joke, I guess. Don't be too serious :) He actually meant that we should be a bit more concerned over the DGCA issue to ensure that long time flying is ensured

VIPIN_KUMAR

Iyer Sir's point was ....What will gap filling glue do when you won't be able to fly at first place......

sundaram

So how are you going to fill that huge gaps in the hobby community without the gap filling glue.   :giggle:

Iyer sir... out of context ... I tried to call you couple of times... currently i an travelling and will be in india in 2 to 3 days time and will call you again...

... as far as we know they have already decided what they need to do ...

That's been my biggest fear. What if the 'comments welcome' thing is just to keep people calm? What if they've already finalized the rules?

And I can't believe people are ignoring the fact that multi-rotors have made possible the use of so many new technologies like on-board visual-SLAM, laser navigation etc. All this was not possible before.

How can we expect more innovators and experimenters with all these restrictions?

Dear Iyer Sir
frankly i don't have much knowledge of drafts and diplomacy...I would be very happy to help save this hobby but people like me need a straight process by which any nontechnical person who belongs to this hobby can give his suggestion to DGCA...i have already signed petition and mailed DGCA but i don't think that would help us much...

Regards
yash :hatsoff:
Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful

santanucus

Unfortunately there is no "straight process" in officialdom. Much depends on how much the person concerned (usually a low level staff) gives effort in the matter. If he diligently goes through the suggestions and compiles them and writes his notes properly then something better may happen. However DGCA will not change key points. Their feedback comes from other government agencies and from the rules made by FAA in USA. At the most they may streamline the registration process.

sundaram

@ Sujju bhai. Thanks. Good to hear that a representation has gone from your end too  {:)}. Representation have gone from many more channels too news of which trickling in slowly. They should take our points, definitely those which are easy for them to implement, than what spelt out by them. After all they do want to issue guidelines for us.

Gusty has already reached Lucknow, presently enjoying in France.

@praveen jose,
I apologise as my gap filling comments has obviously hurt you.
It wasn't you, but someone else asking about filling 3-4mm gap etc.
Vipin_kumar's post put it in the right perspective.
Did i not say anything nice about 1k pur earlier?
Please do not take personal offence when none is intended.

As regards your view that 'any question you ask, you get the answer just Google it'
Thats not always true. And,
You provided the answer in your next sentence,
'As if we all dont know how to Google'
The reason for replies like 'Just Google it' is precisely because many find it easier to ASK, than to Google it themselves.

Hope to see you back tomorrow on RCI with no hard feelings, because you are as much a part of this forum as i am. Welcome back.
Regards.

sundaram

I second that. Please reconsider praveen. Its a great place to be.  :thumbsup:
