Hi Guys,
Since CWG is just arround the corner do you think that people living in the capital or close by areas should stall flying during these times or continue with our weekend flying routine. ???
These guys might not like it http://www.suasnews.com/2010/09/1234/uas-at-commonwealth-games-india/
Divay, with the rain gods creating havoc as they have been, I am not sure whether we will get a chance to even reach the field :( leave alone flying and worrying about security personnel
Contact AMAI folks like Mr Ramesh Trehan. But all I would suggest is to keep a low key. when UAV deployment news is out, news channels would definitely bring general people's attention towards UAV and RC models in general. A common person who was indifferent towards RC flying in his locality may call the authorities.
hahahah.... I agree with you Pankaj, we already have tasted the sweet fragrance of rain last week.....
The IAF has conducted a capsule for local cops as to 'how to neutralise an airborne threat of the UAV/RC Model' (media report). Faraway fields may be OK.
bump
As they have apparently trained snippers to shoot down UAS it might not be a good idea to fly close to the games. That said i would like to see somebody shoot a model with a rifle. Close to impossible I would have thought.
For snipers... I would think it is a piece of cake after watching "Enemy at the Gates" :P
Noway a sniper can take on a UAV/UAS. Aeromodel very much possible.
Because of the altitudes they fly at ? Size wise they (UAVs) tend to be better targets for snipers, right ?

There are couple of videos on you tube of models being shot down for fun.
I guess they used a shot gun rather than an rifle

I guess a high power Magnetron Gun which spew Micirowave could be more effectively used to neutralize such R/C Planes or UAVs

I have already seen a RC Heli brought down with such a Microwave gun in Discovery Chanel. The microwave over load or even Burn the essential electronics in a R/C plane and bring it crashing down.
Hope the authorities are this smart.
