This forum is already looking like a Customs Enquiry desk, attracting queries from people importing stuff far removed from our hobby.
Maybe because any unrelated person gets an answer from a gyani here.
Many members have requested other members to refrain from replying to such queries.
But some gyani members can't resist replying and sharing their gyan.
Let's see how the members feel...

This is more serious than it appears prima facie. The forum is promoting and conniving in illegal activities

Members,
Please look at the poll results, and give your vote.
Pl see sanjayrai55's comment.

76% (19 out of 25) so far, say DELETE.
24% (6 outof 25) say 'Say sorry, wrong forum'
0% say 'reply to the query'

Then why do so many members reply to customs/courier queries unrelated to our hobby?
Moderators hesitate to delete threads where existing members are responding...
May I therefore request members to refrain from replying to such queries?

I repeat 'pl see sanjayrai55's comments'

164 views but only 25 votes. No reply except for sanjayrai55.

Do most of us want this to be a customs and courier information desk?
Or don't care either way?

sim_tcr

I already voted.
In my opinion, customs queries should not be responded and threads should be deleted.
Deleting the thread help google not to index the page.

So it's going to be DELETION.
Perhaps excluding those relating to our hobby and/or from existing members.
Hope admin and moderators agree.

saikat

Perhaps I can present a different perspective..

The customs queries attract a lot of publicity for the forum ... Which is not
always a bad thing

Rather than delete ... Which sounds a bit
extreme ...is it not possible for the moderators
to LOCK an OT thread if it goes out of hand ?

K K Iyer

@saikat,
Right, sir, but perhaps only partly.
That's what I've been doing so far, pending some degree of concensus on response.
Though I'm not clear how locking is better than deleting. Preserves the post though.
Lock such a thread, with an explanatory post?
I've been doing that too, but why should we bother? About guys with no connection to the forum?

More importantly, is this the publicity desired/desirable for this forum?
(ie, as a clearing house for customs/courier problems faced by people unconnected to the hobby?
For importing shoes, watches, food etc, as have already appeared on the forum?)

Hope more members respond. 25 is a small sample, really.

@admin,
Request your views.

I think all very old custom queries with several pages should be deleted.

If a rc member has a problem with customs then the topic they make, should be deleted within 2 months, whether solved or not. If solved should be deleted early.

1. I agree
2. Agree partially.

Thanks for your input.
But the issue is what to do with queries from non pre existing members, esp for unrelated items.

ambattuhari

Sir, can't a warning notice be shown in the "start new topic"page (when a user clicks "new topic" ), like
This is a RC Forum, all unrelated things will be deleted , and IT SHOULD BE DELETED.

prabal276

i second that idea @ambattuhari
We should have a warning on the New Topic Form that All non-relevant Posts related to customs shall be deleted without notice and the OP will be banned if he is persistent.
