Swarm robots that are autonomous and coordinate with each other has been around for some time. I was wondering if someone on this forum took a step ahead to mod or create a multi-rotor or plane that are having at least some intelligence. Some of the example of this can be:

1. Homing plane: where you switch off your Rx when the plane/drone is in mid air and it triggers an autopilot mode that turns and brings (and possibly land) the plane near the pilot.
2. Use Kinect to control the flying machine instead of Rx.
3. Collision avoidance.
4. Collaborate to form a mid air arrangement (like the air shows).

I understand that these are difficult and some of these are actually research areas in top universities. I just wanted to know if someone has tried or planning to add some automation/intelligence to their machine.

Some of the very advanced examples are:

and this:

In fact, there is nice presentation by Chris Anderson, DIY Drone fame, on some of the challenging and fun stuff that they are doing with the drones.

I would be interested in knowing what some of you guy are doing? And, would love to help, if I can.

I am working on this-- http://www.rcindia.org/multirotors/help-building-a-small-fpv-quadcopter/msg161978/#new
It is sort of intelligent when it comes to auto-nav. It'll be nice if you can help. ;D
