Hey guys,
I'm trying to get a tower trainer MK2 (60") through my family coming down from the USA. It's brand new and in the box (ARF) . Since it's very large, it's becoming a problem. If any of you have done this before, please let me know how you did it . The way i see it, i have the following options:
1) pack the box with cushioning, mark it as fragile and check it in with cargo. Is there any specific airline that handles it very well?
2) use a shipping service (like fedex) which is way too expensive.

Please share your thoughts on any of the above.
Along with the plane, I'm getting all the other equipment too: radio (72Mhz), hand crank pump etc (with only the radio and glo-booster being electronic items). Is there any specific precautions to follow, such as packing radio and crystals in separate boxes, using covering paper etc.

Appreciate the help:)

This thread pretty much sums up the experience.

I would strongly suggest that you buy the plane (airframe) locally (may not be the exact same model, but similar flying characteristics), and get everything else from there. That will allow your folks to use that piece of luggage allowance for hopefully far more useful purposes !

Yes i thought of doing the same, but in the last minute went ahead bought the plane too in USA (and slightly regretting now :'( ). If i return it, i end up getting only 25 $ back. Lets see if i can find an alternative. Thanks for the pointer, anwar!
