Title: Importing 9XR from HK via FedEx. Should I be worried ?
Post by: parthash on July 29, 2014, 12:56:18 AM
I am planning to get a few things from HobbyKing but the most important is the 9XR and a FrSky Tx/Rx combo. There are also two LiPos included in the package. One for the quad at 4500 mAh and a 2200 mAh for the 9XR. HK shows me only one option of shipping as FedEx priority. And is charging me a premium for it(which I am okay with paying if the delivery is fast). I went through quite a lot of posts on the forum, but the more I read, the more confused I am about what to do. So here are my basic queries.

1. I know its all about luck when importing Tx/Rx with Indian Customs but I have also heard that they have become comparatively lenient recently for items that work on 2.4Ghz. Is it true ?

2. It says FedEx priority shipping. How long will it take ? Will there be any expedited customs verification and/or will they get the clearance issues sorted and charge me the extra later? Has anyone had any experience with importing RCs(or anything that might raise an issue) via FedEx ?

3. My initial order(without shipping) was less than 10,000 INR. But with the addition of shipping it crosses 10K. On request will HK give an undervalued receipt for customs declaration ?

4. Worst case senario, if everything get holed up in customs(for whatever reason) and I dont get the package, will HK refund me ?
PS: Its gonna be my first time shopping from abroad.

I hope its not too much to ask but the more I read about things, the more confused I am.

Now the LHS rates are ok as compare to Importing Tx, you can contact Chintal for 9XR.

AFAIK, All the news about radios being held back for WPC approval, were all related to EMS/Registered mail.
Never come across issues when importing via UPS/DHL/Fedex

All I have read about fedex is you get the parcel within seven flat days and you have to pay customs of something between 30-40% No custom Hassles.

Cant say about radios.. Havnt tried but have ordered receiers multiple times through Fedex. No issues whatsoever. Also Fedex is fast as suggested earlier..usually no custom hassles but had to pay the last time on receipt, which is more than ok

It would not cause any problem, you would have to pay customs 28% -35%

Customs 28-35% would be on which value ? The package value with or without shipping ???
And does HK provide undervalue receipts ?

It will be with shipping
Yes HK does provide undervalue reciepts but only if you are gold member for that you need to order at least 5 times.

But dont worry parthash, the accessible value is not the value that is declared.

Fedex agents would check the invoice and decide on the accesible value, which might be higher/lower than declared on shipment.

And custom is charged on the invoice value + shipping cost.

Dear rcrcnitesh,
After three orders one become gold member in HK.
In fact immediately after my first order I became gold member. I think they consider value of the order also.
