We all know that the Indian postal customs is dead strict on importing RC items (especially drones, airplanes, helis), however does anyone have any experience of importing such products via 3rd party courier services like FedEx/DHL etc ? If yes, how was the experience. Kindly share.

Bill

I have got a few helis through dhl & aramex. It is extremely smooth. They get the item custom cleared. They give you the customs receipt & they deliver to your address against cash payment. Done this at least 5 to 6 times withoutt an issue

Hey please let me know.... can the RC Set pass through if ordered through these companies.....
Well I been into aeromodelling since I was in School....  and then been in the air for over 30 years.  Now looking to be back into aeromodelling full time...

Bill

I have never ordered a radio. Lipos ar a big no no. In my opinion TX should come through but i am not 100% sure

All Radios products (Rx,Tx) including FPV stuff ordered through DHL/FedEx/Amamex will be withheld by customs.
These gets cleared through a different line and all items gets thrown under the scanner for prohibited goods.
I've got a shipment from dronematters held at the customs dept in Bangalore for the past 7 months.
Be cautious what you order and send in an inquiry to the respective shipper for any clearance info before you place an order.

Bill, i ordered for a parrot AR drone and it did not get through the customs, i was with DHL so it doesn't always work
Bolt 210

@Bill : what about Quadcopters ? Also, when you mention Helicopters even they are banned. How did those come through ?
I want to import a ready-to-fly Quadcopter/Drone via DHL. Any thoughts on that ?

As per customs any radio set Tx/Rx or any FPV Tx/Rx is a big NO. they dont clear them easily or at all. They need lot of documents, like WPC, ETA etc etc.

And they dont clear it without any proper documentation.

I had a huge consignment (100 radio set 50 x 9x and 50 x i6) was detained and refused to be sent back to shipper since i did not had any documents.

They asked for WPC and ETA without these they would not clear radio set if its detained.

Even a single piece of Radio drone shipped via DHL will be detained ?

satyagupta

There are chances, 50-50 but if it is detained there is very less chance of it coming to you.

Customs is strict now
I would suggest
Get it with a friend or family member travelling
Or you will have to find someone who can guarantee clearance of a radio

No shobhit, they seize it at customs and do not let you bring it into the country.

Not only Transmitters, now the customs are causing troubles for batteries also i think. Hobbyking has stopped shipping LIPOs long back, and now banggood has strictly stopped shipping LIPOs to INDIA. Already we are facing lot of problems with importing Transmitters, FPV Stuff and RTF stuff. Now this is another big head ache our customs department has gifted us. Dont know when these customs officers will develop and understand this hobby.

I am talking with few manufacturers to manufacture LiPo battery here in India.

Thats really a very good initiative Satyagupta, How long we depend on these china people and on these novice customs officers. Lets get rid of them. Somebody should take an initiative of Transmitters as well !!!!!

I don't think the battery thing has anything to do with our customs. The new IATA rules came into effect recently and state that batteries must be discharged to 30% to be shipped by air freight. Keeping LiPos like this for an extended time will damage them so most sellers have stopped shipping LiPos by air.
