For the first time today, cops asked us pack up our stuff and leave.
They were just constables, but they knew of the Russian Embassy related incident in Delhi.
So it has probably been broadcast to all Police Stations.
They said it is 'pratibandhit', but didn't create a scene probably because they've often come and watched us fly before.

And till yesterday i thought shortage of lipos was the biggest problem...

Well I been into aeromodelling since I was in School....  and then been in the air for over 30 years.  Now looking to be back into aeromodelling full time...

@shobhit17 sir,
Indore.
Same empty plot surrounded by empty plots, one km off the highway, where we've been flying for years.

I was expecting this today from the cops. That's why I abandoned the idea to film a landmark at Kolkata and avoided flying in front of them. But at the Kolkata Maidan, its a different story although its an army controlled area. Its a vast stretch of land and normally people don't look upwards. As long as you can avoid cops in India and steer clear of sensitive areas, flying is possible. I think police will forget the incident soon and things will be ok. I hope DGCA notifies the rules soon. Its quite uncomfortable to fly while watching over your back for police knowing that flying is illegal :(

RCNeil21

Iyer sir this is very unfortunate :(

Please do not put where you fly and techniques to dodge police etc on public forum. :)
Build planes like feathers rather than tanks, both handle bullets equally well.

K K Iyer

@rcneil21,
No dodging involved.
They know where we've been flying for years without disturbing anyone.
Today thay said stop, and we stopped.

santanucus

So when can you resume? Stopping flying after flying for such a long time must be difficult Iyer Sir

shobhit17

Thats SAD KK Sir.... Maybe you can talk to the Police and put forth your case.  Once establishing your identity and knowing its just a hobby they may not have much objection.  Guess its worth a try.

Like many things that are being banned in India, this is also banned. Like many things which are banned and still people indulge in, this hobby will continue. Maybe we have to "go underground"  :headscratch:
