Hey guys,
After 10 or so flights I finally had my first crash today.. Did the usual pre-flight checks and range test.. Hand launched the plane and did about 2 large circles of the field.. Then when the plane was at the far end of the field I suddenly lost control and the plane went rolling nose first into the ground with full left rudder, full down elevator and about 1/3rd throttle.. So we ran to the site of the crash and found the wing in 2 pieces.. The prop saver rubber broke on impact so the prop was lying close by.. There is little damage to the fuse.. So basically the only damage is the broken wing and a bent motor shaft.. So my friend and I picked up the plane and wing (now wings  :giggle:) packed up all our stuff into the car, and had a chocolate to celebrate my first crash  ;D

The place I was flying is very close to the All India Radio (AIR FM) broadcast station so it may be interference from there but then in the initial checks and range test there wasn't even a single glitch.. I'm using the SkySport 4VF and the receiver that came with it (the Futaba R127DF I think). I haven't checked if all the electronics are working properly so there might be some more damage.. If not then the Glidiator should be up and flying again by next week..
Will put up the photos of the damage soon.. What must have gone wrong? Also does anybody know how to replace the shaft of the Towerpro 2409 motor?

Post crash investigation... the most important thing is to see if the radio gear works immediately after the crash.

I couldn't do a thorough check as I had a function to attend so was in a hurry.. Will do that as soon as I get home.. I'm surfing from my cellphone right now :) (addicted to RCI!)

You have to do it immediately after the crash !  Once you disconnect and reconnect, the results could be different.

The Goa University ground.. You can see the AIR transmission towers from the ground.. Initially I was feeling uneasy to fly there but after the range check n everything I felt confident enough to fly.. All I need to do is replace the motor shafts (thank god I ordered spare shafts with the motor!).. The wing will take no more than an hour to make :) This time with ailerons..

go for 2.4ghz :giggle:

I'm seriously thinking about that.. Because 3 days back we maidened Prateek13's Glidiator v2.0 and I did 3 flights without any problem.. His radio is 2.4GHz (KDS7).. I think i'll do the FrSky module hack on my radio..

Ok guys, Just checked all the systems and aal izz well.. Only thing is the servo arms seemed to have moved through 45 degrees for some reason i.e. their center position has changed by 45 degrees.. Now I don't know if the centre position has actually changed or the servo arms somehow managed slip 45 deg on the servo shafts.. The throws are fine in either direction, they work smoothly and the gears are fine too..

The fuselage has zero damage which is quite amazing since it hit the ground with motor running at partial throttle..

The wing broke into two with the wooden spar snapping just lateral to the rubberbands..

Here are the pics..

I don't know if m wrong, but wouldn't epoxy and toothpicks help you mend the wings?
and thereafter rightly balanced?

I was thinking cutting out and replacing the wood spar from the top of the wing followed my epoxy to glue the thermocol back together.. But then if I do that then i'll probably never end up making the aileron wing..
