even my quad copter kit is stuck in customs. the custom people dont know anything, I spoke 1 person what he said is that its a helicopter parts, and they are instructed to detain RC helis kits it contains 2.4ghz transmitter, then I tried to convince him in every possible way that my kit does'nt have any transmitter or any of its part. but they are not ready to listen. now I was thinking of contacting these WPC office n check whether its really required RC. or what are the actual laws.

Hi Guys,  I just want to know if Turnigy 9x transmitter is type approved. if anyone knows then please share some details

rcparkjets

From my knowledge (and research on this ETA process) ETA for Turnigy 9X will not be available.
Turnigy 9X is a rebranded version of Flysky FS-TH9X and I believe that HK uses the FCC certification of FS-TH9X. Some forum member having Turnigy 9X may please post FCC ID on the reverse of your transmitter to confirm this.

My package has been stuck at Mumbai Customs for 19 days now: http://www.17track.net/en/sim-post.shtml?num=RC002578012MY

Rang Mumbai FPO thrice but no one received the call. Please advice on what to do, I really don't want my package to get lost forever. Didn't under-declare or do anything wrong (No radio, no nothing that could cause problems). I've not received the letter asking for documents or has the site been updated.

Should I contact them? If so, how? I can't afford to go to the customs office (2 hours+ travelling time one-way and hassles overall for a Rs.2.5K package)

Syma S107G helicopter stuck in Mumbai customs

Hi Friends,

I ordered a 3 channel infrared Syma S107G helicopter from Banggood.com on Mar 8, 2014. Since Mar 25th it is stuck in Mumbai customs. See tracking id. http://ipsweb.ptcmysore.gov.in/ipswebtracking/IPSWeb_item_events.asp?itemid=RC004030365MY. I received a letter from Deputy commisioner of customs, Postal Appriasal Section, Ballard Estate, Mumbai asking for information like invoice, IEC, WPC NOC etc. They had provided an email id  for sending the documents. I got the letter on Apr4 and I promptly send them the reply on same day via email. I included the invoice, credit card payment receipt. I also wrote that since the helicopter has infrared remote it does not apply for WPC NOC since it does not use radio frequency. But I have not received any reply from customs so far and they dont pick up the phone on the mentioned nos.

Please help what should I do now?? Should I send all the documents in hard copy via Speedpost to their office? Or visit in person?? This is my start in this hobby and I am stuck in the very beginning!!

Regards,
Omkar

I'm on the same boat! My package has been lying at the customs office since 22nd March. The thing common with us is that both our parcels are stuck at Mumbai customs AND shipped through Malaysia Post. I know at least 2 other people (on this forum itself) who have shipped through HK (MY Post) and their package is now lying at Mumbai FPO! I think we're seeing a pattern?

RC004030365MY
RC001640861MY

In my case though, I've not ordered anything objectionable (radios etc). My package is worth only 2.5K too, yet not cleared after ~4 weeks at customs Mumbai. I've not received any letter from Customs, though. And again, I've called the Mumbai FPO half a dozen times or so and no response! So I think I'll probably look for different numbers tomorrow, ring the post office or do something.

This one got cleared real quick though: RC001765402MY In a couple of seconds, quite literally.

The Turnigy 9XR and Turnigy 9X(without radio module) wouldn't need a WPC approval since these have no radio in them at all.

So if we can prove that there is no radio in those two ,then they should have no reason to detain them.

v2 eagle

a document to explain them where you are going to use that product for, and the same from manufacturer. both should match.
Also a Type approval for this product.

I assume you are importing a radio. all the best buddy.
P.S this is my opinion as far as i understand english. may allahabad customs have different meaning for this.

Hi kausha,

I think v2 eagle is right. May be you can send them the product dscription printout. Also check the WPC website for type approval of your product at http://www.wpc.dot.gov.in/equipment_show.asp. Its not a very user friendly search so use your creativity like search for first letter of you model. For e.g C will return a huge list. I had checked most of Flysky radios are type approved like FS T6 etc. So you can provide printout of that to customs as well.

Hi VS511,

If possible, best is to "wait"; when they (customs officials) send letter to contact; work calmly and provide the print outs - Normally, product description from the website from where one purchase will work. IEC is import export code- when one is not ordering goods for personal (non-commercial) use, then IEC could be not mandatory.

apart from this, a few tips:
I always avoid to import any item (even try to similar item) that is available in Indian hobby store-even if after a moderate high price.
Always avoid to buy items that are known for customs issues-e.g. transmitter etc
Avoid larger parcels to save shipping charge. Though its not necessary to order each item separate just try to control on parcel size.

Please remember, above tips are not guarantee for customs clearance, but can avoid unnecessary issues.

Haven't visited them. 2-hour one way drive/train journey. Does this website look legitimate? http://www.accmumbai.gov.in/aircargo/import/list_of_officers.html

I'll call on the numbers provided there.

Well no one picks up there either. I've gone through numerous websites and webpages, called almost all the numbers and no one picks up. :banghead:  :banghead:

I think I'll visit the office next week then. This is the address, right? http://f4k3url/rb86mP
