Air parcel (about 2000rs), it's just the frame, escs and ,brushless motors, flight control board.  I'm not buying the TX, Rx, or the battery from hk.... ,  cos the customs  charge duty for that.  in India they charge about 1.5k for a brushless motors, and the escs are very costly too..,  if u know a good  sight from which I can order please say

sachin_k5

Dear Immanuel which motors are you looking for ?

Immanuel

rcrcnitesh

Hi All, Well i wanted to buy a couple of 8S Turnigy Lipo batteries from Hobbyking  in the range of 4000mAh to 5000mAh . However, i see that hobbyking does not allow shipping lipos to India above a certain capacity   :banghead: ( I guess its 3000mAh max ).

Now the question is how to get high capacity Turnigy batteries shipped to India then?   :headscratch:     Also, what is the custom duty charged if we import via DHL or FEDEX if at all hobbyking allows to use it?

Thanks
Jiffy

As per Public Notice 111/2013, dated 12.09.2013 issued by Commissioner of Customs(Import), NCH, Mumbai, WPC/NOC and type approval is required for clearance of transmitter/receiver to be used in toys/helicopter/aero plane and other articles. In this regard, you have to take the item to the WPC's Western Regional HQ at Gorai Road, Borivali(W), Mumbai under Customs escort and obtain necessary NOC. After obtaining the same, you may approach Postal Appraising Section for assessment the goods. You may also log on to www.wpc.dot.gov.in to confirm whether the item under import is already type approved by WPC. It is always advisable to follow the instructions given on the reverse of the CN 23/ CN 22/ CP 71/ CP 72 Customs Declaration Form (see Google search) at the time of booking for the rapid clearance of the parcel.

Please suggest me any easy procedure to clear out this kind of matter I swear next time I will not order from Dx.com or any Import Item dont know such kinds of hassels are their in India.

Thanks in advance

Regards
Chetan

there is no easy procedure. best option is to give application for returning back to sender.

you will waste time and these guys are not negotiable.

I too ordered radio from USA. after 3 months gave up and requested to send parcel back to USA. received refund after 1 month.

unless you want to give it a try. which I too have done

never ever try to import items with radio or wireless communication, they are always un certified so, causes these problem,
but any other electronics or accessories are comparatively safe.

customs only have one reason and that is noc from wpc.

wpc is a shit organisation and there is long process for getting equipment type approval.

I don't think its worth for a single item. dealers importing in bulk and having import licence do need to get their equipment approved.

first time online shoppers are unaware about this.

Hello Friends,

I am new to RC quadcopter flying.

Please any one can tell me whether my quadcopter Galaxy Visitor 3 ordered from China will be cleared from Customs in Maharashtra.

I have ordered and Galaxy Visitor 3 quadcopter from China of 2.4Mhz transmitter. Wil i have to pay import duty on the same and if yes, what can be the approximate percentage of the value of the quadcopter.

Please let me knoy friends. Thnak you.!

SideWinder

There is no single answer.

If you have used International Airmail(free shipping), there are chances it may be dutied or detained for a NOC from WPC(which is difficult to get). If its gets dutied, again there is no way to ascertain how much since it changes for the same item from time to time(but you would get your stuff). If you are lucky you may get it without any duty or unnecessary hassles :)

If you have used DHL/FEDEX or something similar, they will charge the duty but wont detain your item. I think they chrage you at 35-40% approx with additional handling charges of Rs 300/400.

You can read more experiences http://www.rcindia.org/rc-general-topics/need-help-with-customs/

Vishal RC

Thank you Sidewinder for your reply.

I have used EMS Express shipping mail with 6$ extra charge.

SideWinder

Well its the same as free shipping since the item will be handled by sarkari customs dept. So be prepared for a roller coaster custom ride, if they ask for a NOC or detain item, send them whatever documents they ask and try to talk to them get your item released, instead of fighting and cribbing. If they just duty you in the region of 30-40%, pay it up and be happy you got your item.

And next time try to buy locally if the item(even similar) is available, because trust me the uncertainty can be overwhelming for beginners. Since you are new just go through the forum, take your time, most of the things are documented here.

And my suggestion to any new comer would be to to go through the threads here before importing any item, which will inturn save your time and money in the long run.

Vishal RC

After you reply i am just hoping that there will be no issues with my Item.

Thanks for enlighting me on this issue.

I was unaware on this things till now and was only knowing that there is import duties that need to be paid.

Thank you very much.

An awkward thing happened last week , my friend ordered two turnigy 9X with 30% declaration through EMS, his parcel was held at customs and duties of Rs 2000 was put on. 5-6 Months before when I ordered the same turnigy 9X through EMS my parcel was also held by customs but there was a message where they askd for my invoice - I emailed them the invoice on their customs mail and the next day my parcel was released and when I received the parcel there was a bill attested saying no duties.

Well I just don't understand on what basis do they take duties, both of me and my friend's parcel was opened mine didn't got any duties but his got. So is that carelessness or some kind of moody nature of custom inspectors. I have heard incidents of parcel not even checked by custom but that is okay due to abundance of parcels and less inspectos but what if they open the parcel and still that moodiness.
